what good does it do as evidence of a bonafide marriage if the officers cannot understand the language?..

7/2/10- NOA1

2/9/11- NOA2 (transferred to Texas)

NVC

2/28/11- case number received

3/2/11- Paid AOS bill

3/5/11- Paid IV bill

3/12/11- expedite to Bogota consulate approved!!!

3/14/11- left NVC to Bogota for further processing

3/17/11- received by Bogota, emailed consulate and was told to send DS-230 and DS-2100 (packet 3)

3/18/11- packet 3 emailed to Bogota consulate, email confirmation on March 23

3/31/11- Interview date! Approved!!!!!!

If it is for the interview in Nicaragua, no need to. For the USCIS initial part, yes. They make you translate everything else. Good luck on your journey!

If it is for the interview in Nicaragua, no need to. For the USCIS initial part, yes.
A Skype (or any other) call history is not needed by USCIS; it's extra. USCIS will, however, transmit to the consulate everything that you sent to USCIS. Therefore, there is no need to translate the call history. (Birth certificates and other official documents, yes, translate them.) It's a good idea to include your call record in your filing, because front-loading a petition often makes sense.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

Another question about translation-Are translations supposed to be a line by line translation or a summary of the information contained in the document?

I am assuming that translation of a document means the entire line by line translation. All documents I have submitted so far have been line by line translation, that includes all documents I needed for citizenship which I I did this year as well.

would not this skype history be advantageous to provide for evidence of our on-going relationship and that they would want it now with the I-130 submittal?

It's helpful (sometimes crucial) for the CONSULAR VISA INTERVIEW later, where providing evidence of a bona fide relationship is required. Well before that (meaning first) comes the filing of the petition with USCIS. Studying the "guides" (atop every VJ page) will tell you what's required at the various stages.

You're free -- and, in the case of most Latin American consulates, encouraged -- to include the Skype history in the initial USCIS petition-filing. Inclusion of optional material is called front-loading. USCIS may not care about "extra" evidence that you include with the USCIS filing, but USCIS will send to the consulate everything that you send to USCIS. Some consulates (Guayaquil, Ecuador is one) are notorious for refusing to consider evidence of bona fide relationship that is brought to the visa interview. If the material was included with the USCIS petition, the consulate cannot then deny the existence of the evidence or that it was brought to the visa interview.

The short answers are: It's fine to include the Skype history in the initial USCIS filing. It does NOT need to be translated if it's in Spanish, because the consular personnel are prepared to accept materials that are in the native language of the country where they are stationed.

Addendum: The VJ Guides list a bunch of formal documents that can be provided as to support the bona fide nature of the marriage. They should all be translated. You can leave the Skype history untranslated, but you might put a cover-note on it (or a line in the cover-letter for the petition) that mentions "Skype call history (in Spanish)."

Thank you for the excellent advise..now just have to wait for that darn Money Gram transaction report since I did not keep all of my receipts!!

the tokyo website translation forms you can download are not complete 100% every line of translation. it was fill in the blank. some stuff was omitted and they accept that. but that form came from the embassy itself so they have to accept it.
