Do I feel sorry for this student...? Sure, I do.

I've not criminalized him, and neither have folks on this thread, unfortunatly by way of their actions and his not taking care of the matter sooner, his parents have.

Yeh, I feel sorry for him.

However, no amount of sympathy or villification of his parents, the law or whatever changes the fact that now the clusterfluff he is living is forced to be sorted out. Nothing changes the fact he is a Mexican citizen living here illegally. He of course is welcome to present his case to the immigration courts and let the judges apply the law. Sort out the mess.

All this other banter and phraseology is fluff. The nuts and bolts are it's time to put his status right. And he will have to.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Are you guys sure it was not a Dunkin Donuts?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Thank you, my Aussie friend. I think you should tell that to the person that debated my point about being bystanders. Discussing, debating, getting tangled elbow over ...hole, etc. in the end it's just that. No change will come out of a particular thread, catch my drift?

I'm well aware of that. What I objected to was your attempt to end a discussion thread.

Really, does anyone else here realize that all of us are just bystanders? Well, with the exception of Booyah! He has pledged to head down to the border and defend it if need be. No matter how much you hate or advocate a subject, your effect is, well, ZERO!!! If anything, all this GTFO, fire and pitchforks stuff shows how hateful people can be. It could be a Chinese, Brazilian, Japanese... whatever, I'd still be exposing my view.

On this forum, all I expect is to engage in half-decent debate, find out other people's opinions and argue my POV when I want to and when I think it appropriate. I have never been hateful and never engaged in name-calling, although I have been on the receiving end on a number of occasions, because that just marks you out as someone who can't accept another's POV.

The only thing everyone on VJ has in common is that we are all, or have all been at some point, in some way involved with the process of immigration to the USA. So I value other people's opinions on a subject, even if they differ from mine by 180°. I'll argue with them 'til we're both blue in the face, but I'll never try to stop them arguing. Because there is always the chance one or both of us will learn something from the back and forth discussion.

You might like to remember that in the future.

And outside of VJ, you have no idea what I do with regard to subjects I'm interested in. Just because I don't publicise everything I do, don't mistake that for me doing nothing. :)

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

God I hope not - he's have enough of his own 'special glaze' to use for daily donut production.

But I digress....

If Harvard protects this boy, IMO all will get unglued.

Prepare for the possibility of putting it back together. Aside from Harvard's support of the kid, a politician may step in and help him legalize his status maybe even with his parents as part of the deal. Will it be a freebie? Don't think so, but guess who will be extremely popular with immigrant communities, not necessarily Mexico's alone... That's Washington, folks.

Are you referring to me? I don't come here to set policy. That would be a waste of time, for sure. OT is strictly recreational for me.

Perhaps we have a different understanding of the word, 'unglued' ?

I dunno, you've been a member since the 1st of June, racked up 100 + posts, and are deigning to swim in OT, apparently taking a stance that an illegal alien's presence is OK at Harvard U. Not trying to knock ya, or even consider 'the source', but something seems really really off with yer interpretation of current USA immigration laws and policy - at least based on what yer writing here on the VJ portal.

Just saying...
