Well, unless you are:

a)A politician

b)Organizing a protest

c)A member of an established organization, focused on taking actions like Sofiyya

The only thing that comes out of this is a collective rant, that will not move on past this thread/forum. Express all you want, after all, you are right when you say the Constitution encourages and defends freedom of speech. A rant is a rant no matter if it is free or oppressed, then again I may be wrong, it may have some effect, but it never leaves the forum on more than 95% of the time perhaps. Sort of a little group therapy session.

Note I am not judging, just pointing out the obvious. You may think you are crusading in favor of your views, but it's nothing more than a rant in reality.

I may introduce red herrings, but God, you act like you were slapped with a bluefin tuna.

Rant away, sir.

You're entitled to your opinion. You'd be wrong, too, but that's your prerogative.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

It's a sad situation, definitely, but then again, I feel that much worse for the student who IS a LPR or USC...who got bumped out of Harvard because of this kid. I would be pissed as anything if that had happened to me or one of my loved ones.

I hope his parents get deported, because they really don't have any right to be here; the kid on the other hand was just a preschooler at the time.

All around, just a hard situation.

Well, breaking the law is always an option. You just have to be aware of the consequences for doing do.

i don't think anyone here thinks what his family did is ok, or should be without consequences. but the circumstances in this particular case merit looking at other possibilities besides deportation. a probationary arrangement may be more appropriate in light of these particular circumstances.

if this hasn't been reported already, it is now.

Eric does not post here.

He is just another lawbreaker, another criminal, among many. He is nothing more than that, his intellectual accomplishments notwithstanding. He deserves deportation, and for his efforts to thwart the law by getting Haaaahvahd bigwigs on his side, thereby expressing his disdain for the will of the American people, he deserves to be shot. It would send a message that would be heard all over the world. Don't mess with Americans.

I smell some 'documents' problem, as well.

Must have SSN to get any financial aid, even 'private scholarship'. Don't have to file FAFSA to get 'private scholarship', but the scholarship amount is reported on, yearly, using a SSN.

Also, application to Harvard, itself, requires a SSN.

IMO, his parents got him a SSN, somehow. Now he's guilty of identity theft, as well.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

What about the USC kid or kid of LPR parents who got bumped off the scholarship list so that this illegal kid could go to Harvard?

Where's the compassion and empathy for them? Where's the fairness and equality in that?

What about them? This kid got in, and the others didn't.

Fairness and equality--in an academic sense--have been served here.

Rant away, sir.

Just in case you do not realize the obvious, this is a forum; thus the discussion at hand. No one is expecting to influence policy using the OT section of an immigration forum.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

He's taking a seat that he shouldn't be occupying, in the first place. A seat he is not entitled to as a result of his illegal presence. What about the 'legal kid' he beat out?

I'd be pretty pissed if that were me. Wouldn't you?

Plus for all we know, this admission could have something to do with AA. Alas, an American kid missing out.

Flame away,folks!

Matt, I happen to agree with you, but this is not up for debate with anyone here. Every post criminalizes the kid and someone was special enough to blame him of identity theft.

Would Mexico allow the equivalent to stay in their country from China or Sudan?

This is just common sense, really.

With illegal presence (EWI), you cannot apply for a SSN. To apply for scholarship/aid/college, you need a SSN.

Meaning? That he used either a fake SSN or a stolen SSN. Not too many options there to choose from.
