I think all this drama make soccer more addicting.. Although, we enjoy the victory even if a referee errors on our behalf, it is the price to pay.

If payback is a B..tch, who will be next, Argentina?

I hate receiving a win I dont think was deserved. Especially in a sport when one goal is so valuable. Why can't FIFA/Opposing fans just move into the 21st century and quit it with well thats how its always been done blah blah blah mentality. If a system is broke, fix it. Better the game people.

Most winnings have been for a marginal # [score/goals], it may be very rare the obvious winning by one [1] single goal error out by the referee..

I still don't think Germany would have lost had England's second goal counted as such. England had what...umm....50 minutes or so to pull themselves together and score another one...maybe out of anger or what but nooo they decided to leave their defense behind and just opened it up for the German players. Even that second goal would have not changed anything if you ask me. I'm sure they got a pep talk from their coach at halftime shortly after the "goal" happened and STILL they didn't get it together. It's unfortunate it didn't count but it's not like England would have suddenly gone above and beyond (at least not with the Germans hopefully holding against that).

I heard earlier that the FIFA does consider bringing in an instant replay for at least 'goal situations'. I'm all about it.

The fact is, England had the momentum in the match when that goal was disallowed. Had that been allowed, they would have drawn even at 2-2 and still had all the momentum. Because of the call, they were gutted and played like ####### the rest of the match. Yes, they should have played even harder, but they didn't. It's insane to suggest that it had no effect on the game.

Yes you could say that but it changes the way a team plays if a goal is scored. Towards the end of the game especially when the winning team will most likely play strong defense on the losing team has to play aggressively and take chances.

Wouldn't it just be easier to have the right calls called. Goal line cameras used on controversial plays for example. It would not take long to figure out if it was a goal or not. Hell the refs would probably have it figured out before the players were even done celebrating.

You are completely discounting the effects of momentum and flow of the game. You could do it on goals, because there is a short break while they reset play. But you would need to do it within 45 seconds or so, otherwise, you run the risk of interupting the flow of the game.

There you go again, "the American way of doing things." I bet you didnt even have a clue about how the system worked prior to making your stupid 'the American way' comments, especially when it comes to basketball.

I recall earlier when I mentioned how it was handled in basketball and how it doesn't interfere with the "flow" of the game you had nothing to say. To me your one of those people who are scared of trying something new and thats fits right into your discontent for this great nation when discussing this topic.

Simpson, it's almost comical that you're suggesting these sweeping changes to the game. A game that you admitedly are a neophyte about. You don't understand the why the game is so wildly popular, as well as why games like american football get such paltry support abroad. I didn't respond when you spoke about it earlier because your suggestion about in-game replay is absolutely absurd.

This is very true...to tie at that point could have changed the game (let's not forget England hit the post too), it happens all the time. Then again Germany was simply superior pretty much for 75 minutes in the game...England really have only 15 minutes of glory, their defence looked like a bunch of strangers who never played together and counterattacking for Germany was so easy it wasn't even funny. England midfield was a key problem too...so yes, the goal could have had a huge impact, but in the end the better team won. Argentina - Germany will be lots of fun I think...Germany is a good young team that has lots of good qualities and especially nothing to lose, I still think Argentina is better overall but I think anything can happen...we'll see, I am excited!

About tonight...I knew Spain would pull it off. I think they are finally starting to play better although not nearly as good as they could.

I still tend to think the final will be the ultimate "fight"...Argentina-Brazil, but too early to say:)

I <3 the World Cup!

As a general rule of thumb, would you agree that the team that either possess more or dominates in possession ends up winning the match? There are only a few matches where the reverse is true.
