Hello everybody!

I was curious how much would cost my plane tix to USA around the dates i'm planning to move...

What a surprise to see that ONE WAY was around 1500 euros!!! same date but choosing a round trip was around 600-700 euros

Would be a problem at the POE if get a round trip being this one cheaper but then dont get the second flight (the go back)?

Thank you all!

Thank you...what an economic relief ufff...So should i call the flight company around the "departure" date or some days after enter de US to cancel the second flight or its ok just not showing up? Meaning: Could mean trouble for the AOS not canceling the flight?

Thank you again :)

I recently had the same 'sticker shock' about the cost of one way versus round trip ticket prices. I started looking at the round trip prices one month out. At about 90 days later, the prices seemed to bottom out. Experiment with the return dates, and the number of layovers on the return side, to find the lowest rate. Buy the round trip ticket, then let the return ticket expire.

Good luck.

I'm having the same problem with buying a ticket for my fiancee and ended you buying her a round trip ticket. with the second leg being in September. I dont think there will be any problems and now she has a ticket home if she wants to go back to visit in a few months.

As I´ve been reading in forums and in my own post it seems lot of ppl end up buying a round trip tix not using the second leg and hasn´t been a problem at all (woo hoo! a huge economic relief right?). Regarding your fiancee just let you know that she won't be able to travel till she's not done with the AOS so i don't think it's useful that return ticket plus would be by then as it was one way to her home country...then she would have to get another ticket to go back to USA either a one way or roundtrip.

Best of luck!!! ;)

Hi there,

It should not be a problem buying a round trip ticket, but I think it would be better to call the airlines in advance and tell them you are cancelling.Or something to that order (which does not charge money to your account for cancellation).Cos I distinctly remember someone who was in trouble during their AOS phase, just about a month back actually.Could you cross-check again, incase I am wrong? Just to be on the safer side.

Good Luck!

Agreed. I remember reading that thread as well (no idea where it is now).

someone's AOS was denied because the airline showed they left in the middle of the process (the return ticket they never used). I never saw what came of it because they definitely didn't leave, but I remember it caused a lot of heartache.

I have to say though, I personally bought a return ticket and let it expire. I have an electronic chip in my passport that will PROVE I did not leave the country. There should also be no record of me checking in. i just think some IO at the interview was having a bad day. I'd buy the return ticket, but remember what date the "return" is for and take a time coded photo or something proving you were in the US at the time it was. Seems stupid but I would do it just to stop the hassle that couple was/is going though.
