DALLAS - A Dallas woman on Thursday doused herself in gasoline and set herself on fire because of her failed marriage, police said.

The incident happened sometime before 4 p.m. at a residence in the 6300 block of Denham Street in the southeast section of the city.

Investigators said 22-year-old Josephine Garcia Diaz had argued with her 23-year-old husband before committing the horrifying act.

They said the couple had argumed about their marriage ending.

Garcia Diaz was transported to Parkland Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

No further details were available.

This use to be pretty common in the '60's. Haven't you real about all of the monks that use to do it?

Unfortunately not everyone is strong minded. This woman probably did it because she has very low self-esteem, or to draw (pity) attention to herself.

Clearly someone who does something like that isn't in their right mind. Calling them stupid seems a bit harsh...

I agree

Low self esteem. mental anguish.. depressed into suicide..etc

are mental disorders that are typiclly caused by emotional distress or taumas.

This womans needed/needs help to deal with this both emotionally and now physically
