(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - For decades, Christians have utilized popular mediums to proclaim the Gospel. In recent years, Christian rock, televangelists, radio, movies and Facebook sites devoted to spreading the faith have become commonplace.

Now, in an effort to educate an apparently ignorant populace about the Christmas story, a new United Kingdom advertising campaign will feature an ultrasound image depicting a baby Jesus with a halo.

"If we Christians really want to keep Christmas focused on Christ, we must constantly re-tell the story of his birth in ways which engage positively with the public's interest," states ChurchAds.net , the group behind the campaign

ChurchAds.net notes that showing off ultrasound images is a common practice by soon-to-be parents. "Our new ultrasound Jesus poster uses this convention to place the birth of Christ in an ultra-contemporary context," states the group's website.

The Rt. Rev Stephen Cottrell tells The Daily Telegraph : "For many parents pregnancy gets real when you see the image from the ultrasound scan. It tells you something is actually kicking off."

Adds Cottrell: "'We've got so used to the tinsel wrapped coziness of the carefully packaged 21st century consumer-fest Christmas, that its astonishing reality – an actual pregnancy, a God come down to Earth – is easily missed."

Along with the image of a baby, the poster includes the phrases, "He's on His way" and "Christmas starts with Christ."

ChurchAds.net , based in England, says its vision is to reach 40 million people this year through the image.

Anything to bring true meaning to Christmas is a-ok in my book. Christmas should be about sharing and caring, not consumer whorism.

I agree. In just a couple of weeks once July hits, the major retailers like Macy's will already start putting Christmas ####### out.... ugh....

I was looking at our local flyers in the mail & they're advertising "Christmas in July".
