Hi. My husband and I had our interview today in NYC. We were not approved immediately. They gave us a letter saying our case is being held for file review before a decision can be made. Of course we are really upset and nervous. I read that this happens and I am curious if anyone has been denied...i see people are approved, but we are scared we will be denied. We don't know why they held the case. We thought it was an open and shut case.

Any information would be very appreciated!

thanks.....

I've noticed that recently immediate approvals aren't given anymore. They tend to hold the "approved or denied" decision and you'll just see online that you're approved or denied.

I wouldn't fret too much 'cause this is normal now it seems.

From what I understand, sometimes the IO at the interview does not have the authority to approve and needs to report to a supervisor? I've heard of cases similar to yours or even some where it looked pretty bad and in the end they were approved within a week.

:ot: I feel it's RIDICULOUS that after all the time you wait and all the money you spend they can't at least tell you approved, denied or just "I approve you but this still needs to go to a supervisor" . Limbos are no good!

Ok, the vent is over...

No my case wasn't transferred. I wish it had been cause then maybe we wouldn't have to be in limbo.....the office was pretty crowded but we only had to wait about 45 minutes and the interview was pretty fast.

that's what is so weird. He didn't say we are approved. He was nice in the end after the really rough grilling. I was noticeably stressed and he sort of said not to worry too much. But it wasn't very reassuring.
