Our Constitution is merely an enumeration of rights granted to us by our Creator, the Lord God. Those are human rights, whether your atheist/communist UN document says so or not.

Atheist communist? Well, that's certainly a new one.

You don't even know your own constitutional history and what tradition of thinking it derived from, let alone how constitutional rights are different from internationally recognized human rights.

it's not a human right because you say so, eh?

i'm not too adept with a spear. how about you?

No, it's not a human right because it's not a human right - in case you were not aware, I wasn't available when the human rights declaration was being drafted ;)

ah so we're limited to what's a human right based on what someone else thinks is a human right. got it.

Compared to the rights granted to us by our Creator, yes - your pretend rights which derive from your fake atheist/communist ideology certainly are new.

Your perspective is not unique, but it's not based on any solid understanding of the the schools of thought that are the foundation of either the the US constitution or the UN declaration of human rights.

You got nothing Charles, certainly not the internationally recognized and ratified definitions of human rights nor how that is different from constitutionally protected rights that are based on individual countries' interpretations of what they will and will not grant their citizens.

The UN is irrelevant.

I don't doubt that is your point of view, but again, it is a point of view born from ignorance as to what the UN actually does.

One, that's a US constitutionally protected right not a human right and two, defending oneself and having the right to own a gun are not one and the same. Do we need a Venn?

as previously stated, SCOTUS has acknowledged in Heller that the second amendment to the US constitution acknowledges the right to keep and bear arms for purpose of defense of self, as well as defense of the country.

oh yes, it's not recognized because the international community won't recognize an individual's right to defend oneself.

and yet, we're supposed to be the barbarians here in the usa.

When the US talks about human rights abuses in countries like North Korea or Iran, what do you think they are referring to?

you might try picking countries that allow their citizens to privately own firearms.

You think that would help? Do you really think the US' stance on human rights extends only so far as whether or not people can bear arms?

That's a very odd view - you must see that.
