wow... I had no idea Jesus wanted women to cover their hair. I never read that in the bible.

Based on the translation, some people believe that 1 Corinthians 11 said woman should cover their hair. Some have interpreted it to mean their hair is their covering, and others that a veil should be worn over their hair. Some say it was only for prayer, others all the time. Historically, it was common for women to cover their heads in church.

I'm not sure which bible you read as I've been told they vary greatly but in the version I have it is mentioned that women covered or wore veils.....

(Gen 24:65) For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

(Rth 3:15) Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

(1Co 11:5 & 6) But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

(Isa 3:23) The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

Also, from christian made images of his mother she didn't appear to have a problem with it. :)

alleged death? does this mean he's still alive.. kind of like the hidden imam?

According to the teachings of Islam he is alive in heaven and will return towards the end of time.

Too bad there's a 360 day limit on name changes or she could change her name to Taliban Princess.

I am not a taliban princess :P

I'm what I guess you would call an orthodox muslim.... I don't believe in changing my religion like others don't seem to mind doing. Whether it be the terrorists who kill innocent people in the name of Islam or those who seek to weaken it and overrule the laws that God made for us or 'modernize' it.

As a matter of interest, were you born into the Islamic religion, or did you convert in adulthood?

I converted from paganism in adulthood.

Forgive my ignorence, Islam says that Jesus will return? Are you saying that you believe that Jesus came down as the Son of God, went back to Heaven and will return at the end of days???

No.. Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the son of God. Allah (swt) is similiar to what is God in Judaism... He is not a physical being that can give birth to offspring... But he is referred to as a "him" by default.

So Islam came first and Jesus was a muslim? Well in the Christian calendar it's 2006, what year is it in the Muslim Calendar?

Jesus didn't make the calendar considering it didn't come about until after his alleged death

BC means before Christ  I just love the fact that you are re-writting history, it just shows your ignorance.

Did I call you names?

Islam teaches that all the prophets were muslims because they submitted to God. It's not about what their followers called themselves after that time passed.

Ok, but they way that was worded VP said "alleged" death af Jesus and then she said that He would return at the end of days. Kind of looked like she was saying that Jesus himself is alive in Heaven and will return.

Not exactly... we believe he was created by God in the virgin Mary... he was a servant of and prophet of God.... The Quran teaches that he was not killed like has been reported but that it was made to appear that way... according to the Quran God raised him to himself (in heaven) where he resides and will return to earth to kill the anti-christ and rule until judgement day. We don't believe God has any children.

Hmm.... Interesting. I always thought that Islam refered to Jesus as a prophet but thought of him as an ordinary human being. When Christians refer to Christ as the Son of God we are referring to the Trinity. Father, Son And The Holy Ghost. Separate but the same. We don't think God had sex and fathered a child.

So you believe that Jesus was a Divine entity created by God?

Excerpt from Islam Q & A

II. Islam prescribes that idols should be destroyed and smashed, not made and repaired. Among the evidence for this is the following:

1. ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered Makkah [at the Conquest], there were three hundred and sixty idols around the Ka’bah. He started hitting them with his stick and saying, “Truth has come and Baatil (falsehood) has vanished. Surely, Baatil is ever bound to vanish” [al-Israa’ 17:81 – interpretation of the meaning]. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2346; Muslim, 1781).

2. Abu’l-Hiyaaj al-Asadi said: ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib said to me: Shall I not send you on the same basis as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent me? Do not leave any statue without destroying it, and do not leave any built-up grave without razing it to the ground. (According to one report: and do not leave any picture without erasing it). (narrated by Muslim, 969).

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

Tamaatheel is the plural of Timthaal (statue), which refers to a representative image.

Shaykh al-Islam (Ibn Taymiyah) said:

The command is to destroy two types of images: images which represent the deceased person, and images which are placed on top of graves – because Shirk may come about from both types. (Majmoo’ al-Fataawaa, 17/462).

(al-Fawaa’id, p. 196).

[...]

From the above it is clear that it is forbidden to make statues, whether the statue is of a Muslim or a kaafir. Whoever does that is trying to match the creation of Allaah and thus deserves to be cursed. We ask Allaah to keep us safe and sound, and to guide us. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad.

Your interpretation is in direct contradiction with leading sheikhs who have studied Quranic hermeneutics and are exegetes rather than simple readers. To claim God would condone tearing down the statues of another religion is an interpretation of select ayat and overlooks the overall message of tolerance of the Qur'an. The teachings of the Qur'an are to be taken as a whole, not in bits and pieces. Comparing Buddhist statues to the kabaa is apples and oranges. The kabaa was/is part of the hajj and of course there would not be acceptance of idols in such a place. Sharia itself is interpretative as evidenced by its variance from country to country.

You should know that not all shaykhs agree. The position that I take is also supported by great scholars who are able to explain it much better than me and show plenty of proof from the Quran and Sunnah to support their position.

It is also important to refer to the Sunnah to understand the Quran and not what we think of it today. We should also look back to the Sunnah to see how the prophet explained it (or acted upon it) and how his righteous companions followed and implemented the commands after the prophet passed away. Gen 24:65.. she raised her veil.. signifying that she was unmarried

Ruth 3:15 Veil or Shawl.. cultural.. te cerse you quote shows that Boaz went above and beyond the required laws to provide for her.

1Cor 11:5-6 in those times.. a woman to remove her head covering in public was a sign of loose morals.. cultural identity again

Isaiah 3:23 and again the word is shawl in v 23.. but in verse 19 it mentions veils .. removing them frmo single women and calling into question their moral character.. being slatternous in nature.

cultural thing.. not religious

and Christ rose frmo the dead.. defeating death and being alive once again.
