WOW that is awesome, esp. considering how much I know you like them.

Now you do realize if I got the same email from my MIL (insert Tennessee instead of Florida), I would have to off myself.

LMAO! I have always been really drunk around my ILs, and same with them!! I can't wait for them to come stay with us in September, that will be a real treat. ;)

Congrats on the extra babysitters, Lisa!

LOL sounds like it's always a party w your ILs, hahaha.

TY! It's going to be a 'few years' apparently  but they say right now FL is just edging out the Caribbean. Mind you, retiring to the Carib would be awesome to go visit them  but I guess we'll see!

Why is it that I feel guilt when, as I'm leaving for work this morning (just after 6), I hear Emily starting to whine from her crib? Obviously I can't do anything about it, and daddy is there - but still. UGH!

It might have helped if he had come to bed before 5 am. LOL.

Hi, ladies

Limita had her four-month appointment yesterday. She is 25 inches long and nearly 14 pounds. Her length is still in the 75% percentile. At this rate, she's going to be taller than either of us when she's 5.

The poor thing upchucked everywhere (mostly on Jon, who was holding her) when the nurse gave her the sweet rotovirus stuff. She had a similar reaction when we attempted to give her kids' Tylenol after her two-month shots. I guess she doesn't like ultra-sweet gel stuff! She did spike a fever last night that seems to be improving. I'm not going to bother with the Tylenol, because I'm convinced it will come back up, along with her breakfast. Poor Limita. :( She's also getting over a cold, so she's missing daycare yet again.

The good news is that the pediatrician said I can start her on cereal. I'll probably wait a day or two until she's back to normal (I hope) and then give it a try. I suspect she'll like it. She's always had a robust appetite.

Glad to hear she's getting big, sorry to hear she's not been feeling well. As for the cereal, YAY!!! That is such a magic time. I loved how well my son took to cereal and then it was interesting to try out all the fruits when he was ready(after 6 months I think?). When he was about 18 months we handed him a pickle - now THAT I remember well.

YAY on the cereal too! I'm sorry that she got sick from the rotovirus stuff though. Did they think she kept enough down for it to still be effective or? Em has always been in the 75th percentile for height too so we both must have giants on our hands! LOL

We always give Emily a dose of Tylenol before shots but they have never seemed to bother her, so it may be a waste of time. She got her 2nd flu shot last week and Chas said she didn't even know she'd had a shot. My only question wascan we have that same nurse again? LOL!!!

Yeah, the nurse said that only a little bit of it needs to stay down to be effective. Fortunately, she kept down the second half of the dosing attempt. The nurse said she hadn't seen that much spit-up in a while. Go Limita! She did end up running a fever for about 24 hours, poor thing. But, for the first time ever, she held down Tylenol last night! Yay! The fever has since gone, but she's still very congested. I'll probably keep her home from daycare again tomorrow unless she has a miraculous recovery tonight. She needs nasal aspiration at least every three hours, and they can't do it at daycare because of health regulations. Speaking of aspiration, we've been using the NoseFrida, which was recommended by a friend with a 9-month old. I highly recommend it! It's easier to use and more effective than the traditional bulb syringe. It's also kinda gross.

The height thing amuses both of us greatly. Did I mention that Jon's 5'5"?

I'm looking forward to the food part. I remember when my niece, now 7, was trying different foods for the first time. The faces she made when she didn't like something were hilarious.

HA!! Well Chas is 6'2" and I'm about average height (5'6") so I suppose she could be tall. Chas' father, my father and sister are also tall so she has it in her genes.

Grumble, grumble ...

I'm 5'3". Is that worth anything? :star:

I was debating whether to mention this in this thread, but here goes. Two years ago yesterday, my old friend Martin and his wife lost their 5-month-old little girl to SIDS. It happened while she was at daycare (the daycare place was not at fault; it was a classic case where she went to take a nap and didn't wake up). I went to the memorial service, and it was easily the saddest service I've ever been to, and it stuck with me for months. I have no idea how they have managed to deal with it. Martin is actually an old boyfriend. We were together for a short period my first year in college and had an amicable breakup. We have several mutual friends, and I'd see him every year or so at someone's BBQ, that sorta thing. I actually haven't seen them since their daughter's service, but we're friends on Facebook.

Anyway, even as we speak, they're at the hospital for the scheduled c-section delivery of their second daughter, Amber. I'm so thrilled for them that they'll have a happy occasion so close to the anniversary of such a sad one. I've been stalking Martin's Facebook page for updates.

The loss of a child, especially one so young, is something you never get over. That pain never leaves, it is just more bearable on some days and less so on others. The measure of the parents is whether they cope at all.

It sounds like your friend and his wife are doing just that. Please wish them all the best from someone they have never met, but who knows something of the pain they have experienced, as well as the joy that's in their future.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

From what I've gathered they have coped pretty well. Of course, you never actually know, but I do know that they've been active in local organizations and events and have drawn some comfort from that. I'm so proud of them for their courage in having another child.

Geez, I can't even write about it without getting teary.
