She's gorgeous!

Wasn't the C odd? I felt like they were crushing my whole torso into dust, even though I couldn't feel pain. I feel ya sister!

If you need help with breastfeeding, let me know....my lact consultant was the best and she helped me through that awful colostrum only period, and afterwards.....

Yes, the C section was a very strange experience. I felt a lot of pressure, but mostly I was preoccupied with the intense shaking that resulted from the epidural. I was relieved by how quick it was, tho. They didn't mess around! There were people all over the place, bright lights, some reassuring words from the nurses that I barely heard, and next thing I knew, I heard this high-pitched crying that sounded like a cat in distress. Of course, I started getting weepy but couldn't wipe my eyes because of the arms-outstretched position they put you in for the procedure. But it was such a relief to have it over with and know the baby was OK.

The reason for the C section was that the cord was wrapped around her body and was getting compressed every time I had a contraction (I had to spend pretty much the entire labor on my right side because her heart rate was considerably lower when I was lying on my left side). I was actually dilated to 9 cm, and things were looking good for the pushing stage. Unfortunately, the baby was "sunny side up," as the OB put it, and for that reason wasn't moving into the pelvis properly. Normally, the OB explained, they could turn her manually and use a vacuum thingy to bring her down, but because of the cord compression issues, she recommended a C. Going the safest route was a no-brainer. You don't wanna mess w/ cord compression! And the important thing is that she's here and healthy. :luv: But ow.

I present Madeleine Agnes (aka Limita) and the Demented Lamb, together for the first time!

Aww!! She is SUCH a pretty baby!! We love ya, Limita (er, Madeleine... :D

Good call on the C - you definitely can't take a chance with something like that. HATED the 'epidural shakes' too - but what bugged me more was my right side was somehow WAY more numb and my right leg felt like a barge pole for a good 4 hours post partum. But hey, at least I didn't feel EVERYthing - just contractions from 7-10 cm on that left side, but hey, who's counting?? :P

Oy! That doesn't sound like much fun.

I still have a rash on my back from the bandaging or whatever it was holding the epidural thingy in place. All in all, I reacted well to it, I think. My left leg was more or less out of commission during the epi duration, which made the few pushes I was instructed to attempt a little difficult, but everything wore off pretty quickly once they took it out. I was really relieved about that cuz I'd heard horror stories about it taking days or weeks for feeling to come back.

Uh it wasn't. LOL It was apparently what's called a 'hot spot'. Yeah, I'll say!!!

Glad to hear all is getting back to normal for you on that front. Honestly girl - feel free to message me ANYtime. I know the new mom thing sometimes makes you feel a little isolated (or crazy!). I'm happy to help in any way if I can.

I saw this report ages back about a woman being perma-paralyzed from her C section epi.

Once I was laying on the table when they were checking if I was numb, (I was numb up to half my chest)...I started to panic and thought ' what if I stay this way?' But then everything happened so fast after that, I didn't have time to be paranoid

The C was at 1130, I was walking to the br by 5ish. thank God

I'll be the 'bore of a mom' and report that Emily weighed 15 lbs 9.6 oz and was 25 1/2 inches long at her 4 month appointment. She was a champ with her shots (despite initially crying) and felt no ill effects the next few days (whew!!!).

Her daddy and I are doing well but we do struggle at times with the lack of 'me time' that either of us seem to have anymore. I think that's partially because we are so long in the tooth - we just got used to doing things for ourselves in our downtime and now we can't do that anymore. I am conscious of the fact that he's with her all day every day so he can only do things around the house when I am home (mostly on weekends); at the same time, I would like to have a little downtime on weekends where I'm not looking after the baby for the entirety of the two days after working 45 hours during the week. We'll figure it out but it's just been sort of a push and pull that neither of us expected.

yay for Emily and a good check up!!!

I know how you feel...we struggle from time to time as well. Having my parents nearby helps. I can drop him off for quality grandparent time, we can run errands, like food shopping and whatnot, but at the same time it's just the two of us - so we can blare the music in the car, and just be 'kids' again.
