As to my wee one...he's fab! He's 18 days old now, such a happy baby, too.

I didn't know you were pregnant. Congrats on your arrival. Glad to hear all is well!

We also got a car seat/stroller combo. Speaking of which, are car seats really that tricky to install? Is it worth making an appointment w/ the Fire Department to help with it?

I hope all is well with the little ones. Anything new?

It might be worth it to have the fire department double check. I've been to a class on it and now I'm one of those people who sees others driving down the road with the handle to the infant seat up and I just think... WOW!!

I was taught that the infant car seat is designed to flip up and cradle the kid between it and the backseat so the handle needs to be put down. Then again it might be totally different now than it was when I had my son 8 years ago. Things have changed a lot since then!!

For me, I'd want to take the car seat and the instructions just to make sure I still remember the safety rules on how tight everything has to be and when I'd need to use the little metal clippy thing. I'd also want to consult an expert on what to look for when it gets near the time to switch to a toddler sized car seat, ie. weight requirements, milestones of the child, etc.

I dunno - Chas didn't find the car seat install too hard. We didn't have ours checked but by all means, do so if it makes you feel better. YAY to heads down!! :) Limita is cooperating! The Pack and Plays are overly complicated. Ours was a gently used hand me down so we had no instructions. No bassinet on ours - just a changer. But the babysitter was glad to have it when we took Emily to her house for an overnighter.

What's your exact due date again Empress? Wonder if she'll be early or late? :)

The due date is October 21. I had my weekly appointment yesterday, and Limita hasn't yet dropped (which I suspected), and I'm still completely closed. Still head down, tho, which I'm very pleased about. Yay!

I think I will see about getting help w/ the car seat from the Fire Dept. Judging from Jon's frustrations with the pack & play, and the zillions of stickers and warnings all over the car seat instructions (and indeed the seat itself), I'd feel better knowing it's done properly. Plus, I can learn from an expert how to install the second base in the other car--or at least instruct Jon on how to do it. I'm not sure I could do it myself at this point because my mobility is somewhat impaired.

I'm starting to notice that my posts make less and less sense. This is a pregnancy symptom, right?

Your posts make perfect sense, unless we're sharing the same mommy-brain-itis, which let's face it, is entirely possible.

If there's any doubt about the car seat, go to the Fire Dept. That's what we were gonna do, but Scott handled it just fine. But had he not been confident about it, off to the FD we would have went.

10 days left!!!! So excited for you!!!!! <3

BTW- ty Rob and Jill!

Re: car seat, it seems I have good timing. There's some sort of car seat safety/installation event sponsored by the fire department this Saturday, and it's being held at the hospital where I'll be delivering. So, if I happen to go into labor at that point, I can just waltz into the OB Unit, and be confident that the car seat is installed correctly. Groovy!

Not many days now! :) Wonder if she'll be an early bird or a late comer?

I go back to work Monday. Sort of dreading it, but at the same time, sort of ready to be back in the routine too. I've been on the day shift with Emily since she was born which was great because both of us never lost sleep - but at the same time, I was thinking he'd change schedules before now and be up to help me during the days. Not yet! LOL So it will be interesting for him to get a taste of what I get. Night shift is honestly easy - esp. since she's been sleeping through the night. IF she wakes up, it's diaper, more bottle and back to sleep. The day is a whole other kettle of fish...!

How did your first day back go?

I think Limita may have dropped. There was some painful squirming last night that lasted a couple of minutes, and now I'm feeling more action that seems lower down. Then again, maybe it's wishful thinking.

Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid. I really hope my water breaks at the hospital and not before. Imagine the mess!

I remember being able to feel my son turn his head. At least that's what I imagined it was. He ended up coming early, maybe because he was dropped. It can't be long now for Limita!

UGH - it went. While I was out, a coworker on my team got promoted. Which wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have less seniority than me and does absolutely ####### all (to the point where people outside our team have come to me and asked why the f*** he got promoted because he's good for nothing). Nice slap in the face, eh? So now I have to seriously consider changing jobs - either within this company or outside. Just not really what I needed. I actually asked my team lead if me having a baby hurt my chances. She said of course not - but I somehow am not sure what else I'm supposed to make of it. Its either that or they think I am ####### at my job. Or he brown nosed his way into it - or maybe all 3?? SIGH. Not really the 'welcome back' I was expecting....! Lots of thinking to do now.

Chas' citizenship interview is Nov 17th so that gave me some joy yesterday after checking the mailbox. :) Immi joy is always the best joy after all. :D

I remember feeling more pressure down there (lower down) in the last week or two so you're likely not having wishful thinking!! I would just get sharp pains if I moved a certain way - something I had not noticed the rest of my pregnancy.

And my water broke at home while I was laying on top of our bed. Nice huh? LOL Luckily the duvet and sheets spared the mattress itself so that's good but damn. Good thing we have a bathroom about 5 steps from the end of our bed, that's all I can say. HA!!! It can be anytime now, chick!! :D

Geez, I'm sorry to hear about the job B.S. What a situation to return to! Do you have many other options in your field, or within the company? I'm sure it's not because you're ####### at your job.

That's great news about Chas's interview (how is he adjusting to the new schedule, by the way?). Jon will probably apply for naturalization early next year. Fingers crossed that we don't end up in the FBI namecheck quagmire again.

I'm definitely feeling like Limita has lowered. I had yet another ultrasound yesterday (AFI, which is how I know I have a lot of amniotic fluid), and it looks like she's positioned properly and even facing the right way. Come on, Limita! Isn't it getting boring in there?

I get calls all the time for jobs - usually contract positions though which I can't really consider. I haven't looked what else is out there that is full time though. Last time I did, they were all at companies which would be an hour commute (one way) for me. I'm quite sure I don't love this field of work THAT much. I'm honestly considering trying to turn my immigration passion into a career somehow. I know there is a need for it in this company so I may try to go that route first. Otherwise - I'll have to look at things and figure it out.

Chas is adjusting just fine! I think he gets too little sleep but that's on him - mainly because he usually comes to bed when I'm getting up (5:30) or slightly before, then has to get up with her - usually around 9:30 or so. I figured he'd start coming to bed closer to midnight but not so far! He's so cute though - he said to Emily last night something about this is the most important job I'll ever do. And he's right!! :)

Limita - come on out!! Today's her due date, right? Whoa!!! Seriously anytime. Let us know if you start feeling anything abnormal. The morning I went into labor, I woke up at 6 am w/ what I thought was bad poo cramps, but when I got to the bathroom, I was spotting a little - and the cramps never went away (and obviously started to intensify). I told Chas 'I think this is it' and he FREAKED. LMAO. I sent him on to bed anyway - he got up at noon, by which point my contractions were 10 mins apart. :)
