AOS and Tourism Visa invitation

Hi,

I am about to file I-485 for my K-1 and K-2 :)

A friend of mine, in Russia, has asked me to send her an invitation to help her apply for a tourist visa.

I thought about the possibility that such an invitation would affect the decision on my wife's K-1.

On one hand, the processes are probably fairly separate, and there is no reason I couldn't both marry one Russian female citizen and invite another one to come visit the US.

On the other hand, it could look sketchy, make the people granting the approval suspect me of attempting to traffic Russian girls into the country or something slightly less sinister. I wouldn't want to take this risk if there is a slight chance that this will affect the i-485.

What do you think? Am I being paranoid?

It won't affect your wife's case.

IMHO, it also won't any good if a prospective tourist can show any ties to the USA, but opinions on this vary.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Having a letter of invitation for travel to a European country is fairly common from what I understand. My hubby had to have an invitation letter from his sis in Sweden before he could even attempt to obtain a visitor's visa. As far as I know an invitation letter for travel to the US is not required and I don't know if it will have any affect on the approval or not.

We have sent invitation letters for tourist visas for friends and family members in Russia. They all got their visas, and they all were single women in the 20 to 37 year range. I do believe a properly worded invitation carries some weight.

I was asked to write an invitation letter for my friend in France. Apparently it is a requirement for her to show that she has a place to stay and a defined period for leaving before being granted the visa.
