Affidavit letters

I am putting together the file to send in order to remove my conditional status and I have a question about the affidavit letters...do they have to be from friends only? Or can a family member write one as well? My brother in law and his wife would be more than glad to write a letter for us to send USCIS. Also they live in a different state but we keep in touch on a regular basis and they came/we went visit a few times, is this a problem (that they live in a different state that is)?

Sorry if it is a stupid question or if it has been already asked...I just want to make sure.

The Affidavits can be from the Family members and from Friends as well.If they gonna be from the family members that would even make it even better , but if i were you i would ask your friends to write a one or a couple affidavits as well, just incase.

Personally, I think the most effective affidavit would be from someone who doesn't know you that well, but sees you a lot.

Any fraudulent couple could probably convince a couple of close friends and maybe a relative or two to vouch for them. People with low respect for the law tend to have friends who are similar. But how many fraudulent couples could get the neighbors on both sides of their house and across the street to say "yes, we see those two coming and going together all the time, holding hands, and we occasionally overhear them arguing like a married couple".

But I have no idea what the adjudicators want to see. I'm just projecting what I'd be investigating if I were in charge of separating fraudulent couples from genuine ones. An affidavit from a person of unknown credibility, selected by the couple themselves, who presumably owes more allegiance to the couple than to the government, wouldn't be particularly strong convincing evidence, though it might help "round out" a package. Now, if you lived down the street from an appellate court judge who is willing to say you look and act like you're married, such an affidavit would be pretty powerful if I were judging the case.

Consider also people whom you know professionally... if you have kids, look to their teachers. Someone in your church leadership, if applicable. An accountant, attorney... people you interact with as a couple.
