I used this recipe http://allrecipes.com/recipe/norwegian-almond-cake/Detail.aspx

It was pretty easy recipe, but it took me forever to whip the egg whites since I only have a hand mixer from the 1950's that belonged to my husband's grandmother. I also whisked the custard by hand and felt like my arm was going to fall out of it's socket. Next time, I'll probably just cheat and use Bird's Custard but I would hate to waste 5 egg yolks.

^^ If you don't mind the smaller 4.5 version, they often go on sale at Target for $199 or even $179.

I want a KitchenAid Mixer so bad also! I want to get it in an interesting color, I'm thinking the matte black or maybe the light blue.

Speaking of cookies.....I just saw a neat idea the other day. You take your cookie dough and roll it out, cut it in circles and then form it over the bottom side of a muffin tin, then bake the cookies.

It makes a little cookie bowl!! I am going to try this for Thanksgiving dinner desert and serve them with some ice cream, chocolate sauce whip cream and of course a cherry on top!!

Wow that sounds good!

I want a Kitchen Aid mixer so bad.. maybe I should just get one.. we spent $250 on the hubster's new grill :P

my kitchen aid 5qt mixer...BEST THING EVER omg i dont knwo how i lived without it for sooo long! i got it on sale at sears a couple years ago. its the artisan one white. i absolutely love it. my mother inlaw has the bowl lifter type..and i HATE hers. its noisy, its annoying to use and lift up and down and no pour shield so flour and liquids go alover. and the bowl is not as steep as mine for whip cream etc.

but yes..kitchen aid mixers are sooo worth it.
