Has anyone noticed if Fancy Molasses can be found here, I keep finding the unsulfur stuff and its not good for cookies. I think its down right gross.

Black Strap molasses? - that makes for excellent ginger cookies (be it gingerbread, snaps etc...) I have found a brand called 'Grandma's eitehr in the baking aisle or next to honey.

Wiz(USC) and Udella(Cdn & USC!)

I have tried the Grandma's here in the US but its unsulfured I just don't like the taste of it. Did not like the results of it with the cookies. The Grandma's in Canada was labeled as Fancy.

I use Grandma's here and I think it smells terrible, but the cookies always turn out amazing!!

I've never used the fancy kind though. I only started baking after I moved, ha.

Speaking of cookies.....I just saw a neat idea the other day. You take your cookie dough and roll it out, cut it in circles and then form it over the bottom side of a muffin tin, then bake the cookies.

It makes a little cookie bowl!! I am going to try this for Thanksgiving dinner desert and serve them with some ice cream, chocolate sauce whip cream and of course a cherry on top!!

I make my own BBQ sauce and people get upset when they don't get their yearly Christmas jar. I have found that the American molasses change the taste, but I don't know why. Same with the ketchup (but I know why). Now I just bring those items back with me when I drive. In fact, I have them sitting on my counter so I can get started with the next batch. Have you noticed how hard it is to find mason jars here? I finally got fed up looking the year before last. (Hence the upset people.) The stores told me they weren't "in season" so they don't stock them year round. I am going out today to get some. Hopefully, they're still "in season". <_<

Hunts has a no HFCS ketchup now and it is inexpensive...

I see canning jars fairly regularly at Walmart and other grocery stores around here but maybe because we live in the LA area where fruits and veggies are available year round..

That's a great idea! How'd they turn out?

I do that on the rare occasion when I make a taco salad. I put a light coating of oil over the tortilla then briefly bake it over a pyrex bowl to serve the salad in. Just like eating at the restaurant but without the hassle!

I buy the Hunts with no HFCS and I think it tastes pretty similar to Heinz in Canada. Not exactly the same, but close enough. It's easier to buy it here than to keep lugging back bottles of ketchup since they are so heavy and I always fly.

I really miss Kraft peanut butter. I think I'm going to bring back a jar next time I'm visiting for old times sake. I also really wish we have Bulk Barn. I cannot find nutmeg that doesn't cost $6 for a tiny little container anywhere to save my life!

I find the Simply Heinz (no HFCS) ketchup a close second to the Canadian Heinz, so I would use that in a pinch. I'm hitting up the Bulk Barn for my Christmas cookie ingredients on my next visit. Why in the world can you not get ground almonds here? Boggles the mind.

Are you talking about almond meal? Most stores carry Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour/meal. Last month, I made Sukse Kake (sp?), almond flour torte with custard topping, and it turned out great.
