so my husband's passport will probably be coming in this week.. so we will probably be going to Canada for 2 to 3 weeks.. We will most likely drive because we will have more freedom when we are back in Chilliwack plus I want to bring some food stuff home...

I haven't done too bad the last few years with things I miss from Canada and my list has shrunk but there are still a few things I want to eat while there and a few things I want to bring back...

eat while there:

Pizza Pops

White Freezies

Cheese Bread sticks from the Superstore (my hubby loves those)

and of course my Mom's cooking.. YUM!

bring back with me:

Cheese Whiz

All Dressed Chips

packets of Swiss Chalet sauce

Coffee Crisp Bars

Coloured marshmallows (the ones here are fruit flavoured and don't work in this one recipe I like to make at Christmas)

I am sure there is a few other things but I can't think of them now..

oh and I will probably bring some jars of Ovaltine to Canada.. my mom says ours tastes more chocolatey..

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I moved about 3 or 4 times before I was 6 years old.. then we lived in the same house for about 8 years and then we moved across the country to BC when I was 15.. once there we moved about 2 times... then I moved out of my parents house and moved about 7 or 8 times... then I moved to California when I was 30 and I have moved 2 times since then..

I have lived in 3 different provinces.

6 different towns and cities.

2 Countries

About 15 different homes.

I'm 33.

But I really do think that all of this moving around has built some character and has given me experiences. Also I adapt to things a lot easier. It's not sad, it's just life Kimbear. :)

Moving keeps things interesting!! Thats why we jumped at the chance to move to C. America!! If u get paid in USA or CDN $$ equivalents, you have a much higher of lifestyle!!

Around here (don't know about elsewhere) they have Tastykake and it's #######. Seriously overrated compared to Vachon.

Well you can send all your TastyKakes to me then. ;)

And moving /totally/ keeps things interesting. :)

my husband's passport card came this morning  we dropped off his application on August 13th so it took about 2 and 1/2 weeks.. I am so glad I didn't pay the extra 60 bucks to expedite.. I am wondering if it helped that I put our travel by date for the middle of September.

We might leave as early as Monday for Canada.. we would leave on the weekend but the LA County fair starts this weekend and it is only $1 to get in the first weekend

we still have to decide if we are going to fly up to Bellingham, WA or if we are going to drive... We are leaning towards driving because then we would have more freedom once we are in Canada..

So my job with the roofing company wasn't working out, so I went and registered with a temp agency last week. I had an interview on Monday and started a new job today. It is working at a factory that makes the K-Cups for the Keurig coffee machines. It is not a very glamorous job ( it is a machine operator) but it pays pretty well, and it will get our heads above water. I will continue to look for something in my field, but in the meantime....this will do. They are expanding like crazy, so pretty much every temp that they hire gets hired on full time within 2-3 months. They have really great benefits, stock purchase plans and many other things (including big discounts on the coffee makers and free K-Cups!!) Now if I only drank coffee....lol (they do have chai latte and several different tea's and hot chocolates as well....YUM!)

I work a 10hr shift from 4pm to 2:30am , and I must say I am pretty sore right now. I went from 2 years of pretty much sitting around not doing to much of anything to standing for 10hrs straigth!! My poor feet!
