Yep, most are long gone!! They Make an occasional appearance now and then, but some are just gone, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I moved to Metropolitan DC and literally had the worst year of my life in 2010. And that's saying something considering my first husband died at age 31 and left me with two small children. lol

NO! I can't believe you had the worst year :( That makes me sad. If it makes you feel any better, I had the worst year in 2009. My parents got divorced and my dad is now MIA. I haven't heard from him in months which has been kind of like him being gone. And I forced us to move from our house closer to our jobs because of my horrible commute. We had not even lived in our house 2 years yet and now we can't sell it because of the market.

2010 was much better, though. I hope you have a better 2011, Krikit!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Yeah, it was pretty horrible. I cried a lot. This year has been much better so far. Thanks Treble.

I'm sorry to hear about your parents. Especially your Dad. :( I hope he has spent these months healing and that he will soon be back. (F) I know what you mean about the housing market. We didn't even bother to sell our house in FL..... we just decided to become landlords. It turns out the lady who is living there wants to buy it. But last year was such a mess that I told her I couldn't even begin to think about having that discussion until things had settled down. I think my head would have exploded if I'd taken anymore on. Do you have tenants or is it just sitting empty?

Doing great now, thanks!

Awwww, that's so nice! No, I've never met anyone other than Carla and Trailmix. But they live so far away. I'd love to meet some VJ'ers from around here but it doesn't seem like anyone really wants to do that. I really miss having girlfriends to hang out with. Especially with my husband away so much. I believe Flames and Derekkj lived in the same building and never even met! Flames is the antisocial-type though. :hehe:

I'm watching the market down there right now, and waiting for it to come back to the right price. It's vastly improved since this time last year so I am ignoring her request until the time is right. lol

I'm in NoVA too! West of DC.

What kind of stuff do you like to do?

Pretty much anything that doesn't involve hard labour. lol

like a group or just friends?

Both. There's a VJ group that I can honestly say I never hear hide-nor-hair from. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong.
