I wanted to do something for New Years Eve this year. so today I thought of having a games night at our place and have people bring appetizers... but then I found out that the people who might have come to my party already have other plans :( it would have just been family that would have come because we really don't have any friends.. one of my BIL's is having a party but I don't want to go because it will just be drinking and loud music... and my SIL's in-laws are having a party but my husband doesn't want to go there....

I just wanted to have a nice quiet-ish evening playing games and eating yummy food... we really need to get ourselves some friends :P

I keep saying that too... I have no friends here.. :(

my husband had a doctor's appointment yesterday but he wasn't able to go because he hadn't gotten his blood-work done yet so i tried calling the doctor 2 or 3 times yesterday but it kept going straight to their automated answering service so I assumed the doctor had the day off or soemthing... but my husband checked his voice-mail right now and there was a message from the doctor's office saying he had missed his appointment..

We are the same way. Hubby has made some friends through work, and I have met a few girls through a Mommy fourm. We have been invited to one of his friends places, but won't be staying too long since we won't bring the little one because his friends smoke. I kinda don't want to go because of that, but it will be nice to get out with some other people.

so a few days before Christmas i was talking to my SIl and she was mentioning that she didn't know what to get her daughter for Christmas and I was mentioning that at this one store they have these perfume sets... the only name I could remember was Burberry (they are not the real thing but they are impressions of name brand perfumes) ... I didn't really like the smell of that one but there were others that smelled pretty good..

anywho fast forward to Christmas Eve and I open one of my gifts and it is the Burberry perfume set.. lol I guess because I mentioned it my SIL she thought I liked it and wanted it ..

I took it out of the package yesterday and put it in my bathroom but in a little while our whole upstairs smelled like the perfume.. so much so that I found it somewhat hard to breathe :P so I put it back it the box and put the box in our spare room with the door shut

I don't think I will be wearing that perfume anytime soon...lol

my husband's aunt and my SIL's SIL gave me some nice smelling lotions from Victoria Secret though..

:) The nice thing is that she 'tried' to get you something she thought you would like, which is thoughtful, even if she was off the mark. Is it possible to take it back and exchange it for a scent that you do like?

Definately a sweet thought! Too many of my immediate family are allergic to perfumes, so I rarely get anyone any. If I do its usually something thats vanilla based cuz I don't want to upset their noses.

I had a nice (and cold) Christmas in Canada!

My husband bought me a really nice watch for Christmas. It was such a perfect gift. I knew I married him for a reason ;)

I get to spend New Years playing Monopoly with the inlaws. It sounds lame but it's actually a fun family tradition! It helps that I'm the defending New Years Eve Monopoly Tourney Champ :P

so I brought in the perfume set and exchanged it for store credit.. I got a little less then my SIL paid for it because I didn't have the receipt but that's ok. I used the credit to help me buy a pair of jeans, which I needed... i feel bad exchanging gifts though but that perfume was really making me sneeze and feel a little nauseous..

Ah good :) . If she asks about it you can always say you're wearing it - whatever it is you're wearing - and offer her your wrist to smell. She won't know otherwise - but be sure to tell her that you have enough to last for a long time as you don't want her to buy it for you again next year  .

Well, I am back. I had a wonderful Christmas but trying not to think of my poor Mum who always cries when I leave and then cried on her voicemail message saying they'd arrived back home safely after they'd dropped me at the airport. :( Oh, the airport! I was extremely lucky I left NC on Christmas Day because they got snowed in the next day! There was 15 inches where my husband was. I was concerned about him driving up to Canada in such weather so I told him I'd just fly back. No Timbits for Charles, though. I was going to pick some up at the airport but who would have thought there'd be no Hortons in Terminal 1? I took some cookies from the Maple Leaf Lounge, instead, but I ate them. :hehe:

That's awesome about your parents and their thrift store, Marilyn! I wish them much success.

So good to see you again, Trailmix! I really miss you on here. :(
