*crickets* (not Krikits)

What were you doing yesterday?

I meant recital, not rehearsal. Coffee apparently hadn't fully kicked in. lol

It was good for a chuckle. The little ones looked so cute and cuddly in their little outfits. We left during intermission because Brighton (my cousin's daughter) had already performed. I found a toonie on the floor and gave it to her brother because she was getting all the flowers and the attention and he was being a good little doobie.

Anyway.... what I was doing to cause all the pain.... as you know, my parents' house is undergoing massive renovation. I am here to put it all back together again. I had to clean all the construction debris/dust from the kitchen, living, and dining room and put it all back together again. Which meant washing walls and floors and windows and everything else. There's about an inch of white construction dust everywhere. And the dishwasher still isn't hooked up so everything washed by hand. And I mean everything. <_< I have a huge bridal shower happening on Saturday and we look like we've been bombed. Everyone is going to pull up to the house and think "Oh my. What a dump." Because it literally is. I am waiting for the contractor to come by so we can discuss the unfinished renos, the deficiencies, the mess, and the fact that he has no idea how very close to my going ballistic on his @ss he is. :)

Today I am clearing construction debris and dust from the unfinished basement and attempting to unpack all the boxes from the living room and bedrooms. <_< Yesterday I did piles of laundry because I haven't had access to the laundry room all week. Little did I know that the plumber had f'd with the drain hose and I ended up flooding the basement..... all over the new flooring and drywall. That was special.

Congrats Colleens!! :)

My husband and I have decided to go on a "mini-vacation" for 4th of July weekend since I just started the new job this year and won't have any time to take off until the winter. We're just not really sure where to go! If anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome. I'd like it to be within driving distance or a 2 hour or less plane ride, non-stop. Something relaxing with a fun thing or two to do or see for Bill, since he's all about adventure. We're willing to splurge a little, but nothing ridiculous. We're both pretty clueless...

Lake Tahoe, CA/NV. It's right ont he California/Nevada border, about a 90 minute drive from Reno. There are casinos (Caesars Palace, etc.) on the Nevada side and great restaurants on the California side. The lake is great and you can rent boats and jet skis. You can either stay in the hotels or you can rough it in the great camping sites.

so one of my friends on facebook (who I knew when I lived in Canada) is in the process of moving her family to another town a few hours away because her husband got a job there... So I guess he had to go ahead for a week or so and he is coming back today and is home for a few days and then he has to go back up for another week or so... they are officially going to move up there in a few weeks.. He was only gone for just over a week but she is acting like he has been gone for months...

I know I should be sympathetic because I know it is hard to be away from your loved ones but still he was only gone a week and half... all her updates on Facebook have been about her husband being gone...

I am pretty sure up until now they haven't really been apart...

I guess it bothers me because I never really got much sympathy when I was apart from my husband

enh...just don't give her any sympathy :) Nah kidding.....people can only sympathize once they've been apart like many of us have. Maybe you can say 'know how you feel...imagine me after x months and you've only been apart a week and a half..LOL'

Ugh, I hate when people say things like that Marilyn. I have a friend complaining about immigration processes (she wants to move to New Zealand), and updating every stage of it on FB getting all these comments and attention (she's one of those LOOK AT MEEEE) people, and gets upset if someone diverts attention away from her. lol Oh, if only people really knew what we went through.

But Udella is right, that's a good opportunity to put things in perspective for her. lol

This typo really gave me my laugh for the day.

My husband has been thinking about a new BBQ (I guess they call them grills here :) ) for Father's Day. So today I get this text from his 21 year old son:

Hey...any idea on what I should get my dad for fathers day? I was thinking maybe like a new girl or something like that, I thought I heard him say his was acting up.

Since our 2 week July trip to Canada has been canceled due to lack of funds :P my parents decided to come down here for a visit.. the plan is for them to take their time driving down and then spend a few days here and drive back.. but I was just checking plane ticket prices and they could fly round trip and non-stop form Bellingham to LA for about 300 bucks...

I am sad though because I wanted to see all my siblings and my nephew.. I thought at least my little sister would come but she is going on a trip with her friend's family to Oregon sometime in July

I am hoping that maybe I can go to Canada for Christmas...
