Hubby home a day early. :luv:

No idea what he has planned. If he's heading to the gym or something then I'll probably bake cookies and/or make BBQ sauce. I get a lot of requests for it so I give them out at Christmas. No way I'm braving the shops the last shopping weekend before Christmas. I don't need that kind of stress. lol

I'm going to make an extra batch of cookies and/or BBQ sauce for our next door neighbour. After the snow we had the other day he came over and shovelled the driveway and walks. He must have noticed that I was home alone. I (L) my new neighbour. He offsets the really weird ones on the other side of me.

I used to have a neighbour like that when I lived in Ottawa. It really makes a big diffence when you have great neighbours! I had bought a bunch of stuff to do baking just they day before I went to the hospital...not sure how much I will get done now!!

Nice neighbors do make all the difference! The people that live next to my parents up in Canada are like that- they would snow blow our driveway in the winter, give us Christmas presents, water the plants when we'd go on vacation, nice neighborly stuff. We developed a good relationship through the years. I wish I had some nice, normal neighbors here in the US. It seems like everyone keeps to themselves and ignores each other...

I braved the stores today, and they were INSANE. That's what I get for waiting and doing most of my shopping last minute. And I still need to go back out tomorrow. To make it better, I have a horrible cold! I wanted to hit people...

So Mathew didn't get the job he interviewed for last week. :( But on the bright side, he flies out tomorrow to go back to Cedar Rapids to interview for a different job with Rockwell. He was so upset last night, but today he's confident about his skills and the interview he has monday. I just hope his morale stays up enough to wow them at this interview. I can't stand to see him upset again.

Sending out good vibes for a successful interview tomorrow, Kayla. I'm sure the other job wasn't the right one for him. Things have a strange way of turning out for the best, even when it doesn't seem that way at the time.

Hope your cold is better soon, Huggles! It seems like everyone is getting sick right now. I look at it as a good thing for everyone to get it over with before Christmas before I have to kiss everybody. lol

Thats what I told him, that maybe it wasn't the job for him. He graduated from ETS in Montreal in the top 10% of his class, and CAE gave him outstanding reviews, so he's a great engineer. He re-read over the job description that he's interviewing for tomorrow and he says that this is a much better job and that he's way more qualified for this new job than the other one. I know my man will do awesome, it's just keeping his confidence up that's the hard part. He's a perfectionist and always super hard on himself.

Fingers crossed, everybody!

Good luck!!! If he can go in looking confident, that can make a huge difference. If he feels more qualified for this job, hopefully that will show through!

*waves to everyone here*

I keep forgetting this thread is here - I keep browsing the CR/IR1 forum regularly, but I should stop being so.. #######. This thread looks more fun, and should help me keep my mind off the constant refreshing I want to do with the USCIS site.:innocent:

my parents officially opened their Thrift store today..

my dad was a truck driver up until a few weeks ago but it was getting hard on him having to climb all over the trailers to tarp and strap the loads down... so they decided to open a thrift store.. my mom was working at a different thrift store...

so if you are ever in Chilliwack, stop by their store .. it is called "Re-Store"..

I LOVE thrift stores! What a cute name :) . I hope they do really well and have lots of fun with their new venture.

Good luck with the store Marilyn.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
