No dutchies?! What a tragedy!! When I worked at a Timmies, we hardly sold any dutchies. It was sad. I was always throwing them out.

My favorite are the chocolate dips. Classic and yummy! Along with a double double of course.

What is a dutchie? I tried to search for it on google images and got pics of various kinds of donuts. Dutchie here has a much different connotation, here a dutchie is a joint.

so 2 of my brothers and my nephew are coming next week.. they will be here from Monday to Friday..

this week would have been perfect because my hubby had Wednesday to Friday off but oh well...

now I have to finish tidying up around here :P

my SIL sent me my nephew's daily routine.. he just turned 3 in October.. what surprised me was that she says he has nap from about 12:30/1:00pm til about 3:30/4:00pm and then goes to bed around 8pm and wakes up around 5:30am... I think if he had a 1 to 2 hour nap in the afternoon he would sleep til about 7 or so.. currently there isn't enough time between the time he wakes up from his nap and the time he goes to bed at night..

yeah it is nice if the kids have a 3 hour nap because you get time to yourself but I don't think a 3 year old should be napping that long.. and the only reason he is napping that long is because he gets up so early..

Oh great. Now I want a Dutchie. :crying:

So wish me luck today. Now that I finally have a permanent address I am going for my VA drivers license. I tried going last week but there were literally hundreds of people in there. So I drove to another DMV where there were even more people waiting! :o Then it dawned on me that it was the first day of the month and they were probably all people who should have taken care of things the previous month. <_< My husband already has his. He says he's glad he went first because they had him running in circles and making him get stuff done for the car registration that he didn't even need to do! He went back 3 times! I've never seen him so ticked. I told him now he knows what it feels like to be me. I hope they don't give me a hard time. It's so frustrating being an alien.

I have a bunch of other running around to do, too. I'd better get cracking.

Thanks, OBX!

OMG. Well, you KNEW there had to be a DMV story. dry.gif When I got there there were about 20 people in front of me. After an hour of waiting, I decided to use the rest room. My purse fell over and my cellphone dropped to the floor (yuck) and then slid neatly into a cubicle which was locked due to being out of order. It came to rest right against the toilet. So, yeah. I won't go into the gory details of how to get a cellphone out of a locked cubicle.

In the meantime, they called my number. I was not there to hear it. About 10 minutes went by and I hear them calling A10. I had A9. They had almost all the letters of the alphabet in use. It was kind of like the interview in Montreal, except with more letters. lol. So I look around and see a guy who appears to be a supervisor, and go over and ask him if I've missed my number being called. He says yes. dry.gif So he takes my slip of paper and puts me back in the queue. In the meantime, another 40 people have walked in. I wait another hour.

Finally, my number gets called. Then it's time to take my picture. I go over to the area and sit in the chair. And wait. And wait. 10 minutes later the lady tells me she can't get the picture-taking computer to work so she takes me to another one. She can't get logged into this one, either. Another 10 minutes go by and she finally gets it working. I can't wait to see the look on my face when I get the license, because I'm sure it's a reflection of how I was feeling.

Anyway, all the rest goes smoothly. I pay my bill and then I leave with my piece of paper and my FL license voided.

Outside in the parking lot I watched not one but two vehicles in two different areas going the wrong way despite all the signs and arrows. Right in their very own parking lot! The irony made me laugh. But what really got me was the lady (and I use the term loosely) who jumped out of her car, ran around to the front of it but not IN front of it.... right beside it..... whip down her pants and take a pee. Right in the parking lot! :o All I saw was this big white ####. My God. I am still in shock. Not only did she not go inside to use the public facilities, it was 32o with a wind chill factor of 20! Un. Be. Lievable.

So, yeah. I'm now legal in VA.

Too funny. You didnt get ur new DL right then and there?? I'm certain I got my new VA license on the spot!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Oh, how exciting, Colleen! When are you due?

Too funny. You didnt get ur new DL right then and there?? I'm certain I got my new VA license on the spot!

You did? That's interesting. They gave me a piece of paper that said my license would be sent to my home address.... the same as they did in FL. Do you think it has something to do with making sure they don't issue licenses to the illegals?
