so for the last month or so at hubby's work they have been preparing for inventory which was going to be tomorrow.. today was the final prep day and I expected him to be home around 7pm or so... but he just got home a little bit ago and says they have canceled inventory.. they will be doing it in September instead, they said something about computer issues .. it kind of sucks because those overtime hours would have been nice for his paycheck...

so today was the Birthday party .. we get there and they don't have a cake so they sent out some guys to get a cake and some other stuff but they don't get the cake... that is when I mention that I has asked our niece if she wanted me to make the cake but she had told me no, they were going to pick one up... and they all say oh you should have made a cake.. :P (oh and the niece wasn't even there yet..lol.... ) so anyways they finally go pick up a cake and I try a piece and the icing is super sweet and the cake was ok but it tasted a little frozen...:P one of my SIL's SIL says to me, "next time just ignore Stephanie and bring a cake" ..lol

oh and I had made some brownie bites and they were gone in a flash...lol

when we got home today there was this paper stuck to our door advertising a block party which is a cool idea I guess but it is on a Tuesday night... kind of a stange day to have a party  I guess it is an annual nationwide thing, it is called "National Night Out"...

they never had one in this neighborhood before....

Ugh, National Night Out sucks, if you're planning and setting it up.

I wasn't sure if this was a vent or not. My grandmother has alzheimers and severe dementia. She is 97 and has had it for the last 7-8 years. it's taken me most of that time to really come to grips with it and desensitize myself to the utter madness that is living with that. Then, on Friday, while I was moving some stuff into her basement, I came in the house to just say high and give her a kiss. She remembered me. At first, I was so overwhealmingly happy that she did. But then I was on the verge of tears because it just reinforced the idea of the torutured madness that alzheimers patients go through.

I'm so sorry! My mom had alzheimer's too, probably close for 20 years. It was very hard to watch her slip away. She died two years ago; she was only 81.

Although it's hard knowing what this terrible disease can do, you have wonderful memories and that she's 97 is good cause for celebration! I do have some advice for you, and anyone else who may be going through this. Take lots of pictures, and videos! My niece did when she and my sister came to visit her in the home she was in at the time. I'm forever grateful that she did! Even though she had no clue as to who any of us were, those video's brought a smile to my face. I had a such a great mommy! :)

so I officially don't have a job anymore.. I emailed them and they said they have found someone for the summer and fall but that they will keep me in mind and that I can use them as a reference...

I feel kind of sad because it was a good job, they were very flexible and they were really nice people to work for.. and the kids were good kids even though they drove me crazy sometimes :P I am going to miss those guys... :(

it was my first job in the US so I guess I am feeling sentimental about it...

I also feel a little like someone is on my turf :P

today I applied for a few jobs so we will see how it goes.. I hope the fact of how I left my last job doesn't come and bite me in the butt

Yes it would expect it being hard, you do get attached and the family starts to fell like they are a part of your family too.

Good Luck with the job search, I am still trying to get enough courage to actually apply for a job. I did have a job with Kroger but my back is too messed up for that so I didn't stick with it. I've been terrified of going out and working I know sounds silly, but I'm stuck. I did almost get my resume finished but I stopped again.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother Rob :( My grandpa has early stage alzheimers and it's very hard to watch.

My day just totally sucked. Our network went out at 1:30 this afternoon, meaning we had no internet access and couldn't get into our systems at all. No way to access customer files, billing statements, policies, anything. And then around 3 our phone network went out, so we couldn't receive any calls or faxes. Of course they expected us to stay and work with this, which was basically impossible. When you can't access your work you can't really work on it. We've been going through a paperless transition, meaning 80% of our information is on our computer databases and nowhere else.

Then I had to drive home through a monsoon. It was ridiculous! I couldn't see 2 feet in front of me. Rain, hail, high winds, lightening, all out craziness.

Wow that sucks :bonk:

Glad you made it safely home
