Yeah, I know, it's so hard to find any turtles in Canada. I rememebr when I was younger my friend had a box turtle. I think in order to get a turtle to Canada, you have to pick it up at the border or something along those lines.,

Awwww a baby turtle!! :luv:

I always wanted a pet turtle when I was young, but my mother would never let me have one. She always said they had germs. This is the woman who wouldn't let me have a puppy because she thinks they're stinky...

Congrats on the new car Paulie! I saw in the last thread. I'm working on getting a new car myself... but my darling husband and I can't quite agree. This disagreement will likely end up in the vent thread in coming weeks :P

does your husband ask you questions every 5 minutes? ...lol

My hubby always does when he cooks dinner, which isn't often :P.. I sometimes think it would just be easier if I cook ..lol

Not for this meal - this is his famous Hamburg Stew...which he created and has modified over the years....it involves ground beef, Bushs Bold N Spicy beans and other secret ingredients. Along with a couple biscuits, it was great.

Yay, Mephys!

When you hatch newborn baby turtles, do they think you're their mommy?

Actually they try to bite me, hence the 3rd picture :bonk:

The trick with turtles is to treat them like raw chicken. You wash your hands after touching them and you don't put them in your mouth :hehe:

Why would you want to put baby turtles in your mouth anyways?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Believe it or not, the ban on turtles smaller than 4 inches is because of idiots like that. Letting kids play without supervision with turtles, either in a pool, so the kids are actually bathing with the turtles or young kids putting them in their mouth like they would with any other toys....

Then they wonder why the kids have salmonella.

My question is, do you let your kids in their bathtub play with raw chicken and put it in their mouth?

The other problem is the misconception that turtles are fine in 2 inches of poopy water with no light, filtration, heat, or cleaning needed. This only creates disgusting and unsanitary conditions and those turtles are usually very sick too.

Let a catbox fill with poop for 2 months and that would be comparable to that. It's all common sense, and a lot of reptile keepers don't have that, makig the government put those bans to avoid dealing with the consequences.

It pisses me off, thats all.

My turtles are in a huge aquarium, and they have a filtration that can handle twice the size of the tank since turtles produce more waste than fishes. And I was my hands.

So...always store them on the bottom shelf of the fridge so they dont drip and cross contaminate other food? whistling.gif

That's what I do :P
