sorry you have to go though that, Kathryn.. (F)

about your anniversary and Birthday dinners, I am not sure if you like Red Robins or if you have one near you but if you sign up on their site you get a coupon to use for a free burger and fries for your Birthday, I think you have a week or so to use the coupon...

same goes for Coldstone creamery, you can get a coupon for a free like it size ice cream...

I would hate for you to have to celebrate at Taco Bell...

Thanks everyone,

Alas, Marilyn we don't have any of those around. :( Joe and I talked and we will be going to our favourite local diner for dinner on Saturday - nothing fancy but still, it is a place we enjoy with good food. At least we don't have to worry about the car breaking down on the way! The mechanic did say that everything else looked good so that is good news.:)

*sigh* (((Krikit))), So sorry to hear about your Aunt, I hope they caught it early that it stays encapsulated where it is and its put behind your family quickly and safely. I lost my uncle to cancer some years back, and my father just in December, so Im well aware of the kinds of stress and angst it causes everyone close to the person with it. I will keep you and yours in my thoughts.

:((F)

Krikit and Colleens - good wishes to your aunt and sister - I hope they both make full recoveries. My sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer. She completed her surgery and her treatments and so far everything looks good coming up to a year later. It's scary, though, even when treatment is successful because you always live with the 'what ifs'. Cancer, unfortunately, runs in my mother's side of the family - everyone in her family except for one person has died from cancer - and that was her grandmother who died from a stroke. The generation following hers has been alright so far, so on wood. All of them smoked; none of us do.

:((F) Glad to hear your SIL is doing well!

Sorry you're having all those problems. Glad to hear your car is fixable and that it didn't cause an accident.

WELL, for the past while, I'm not quite sure how long, I would get really vicious anonymous comments on nearly every entry. I can't remember when it started because I didn't realize it was HIS MOM until I put 2 and 2 together and matched it up with the stat counter. Just last week she left me a really rude comment on an entry I wrote about how I'm moving to the states. Anyway, I can't understand how a grown woman can be so thick-headed and immature as to harass her ex-daughter-in-law over her public blog. I of course delete all of them, but that doesn't erase the fact she keeps doing it. I could really go on and on about how dumb this is, but I'm sure it doesn't need to be said. Unfortunately I can't block specific IPs so unless I want to cut off all anonymous comments (a large majority of my comments), then I have to put up with her #######. :ranting:

:o

She's a coward. And a mean coward at that. Respond to one of her comments with "Thanks for all your support, X-MIL." That should shock her. The sad part is that you won't get to see her have a panic attack. LOL

Oh Kat... sorry to hear about all that -- it's true, when it rains it pours. Big hug for you and the diner thing for dinner sounds really good.

So today I start talking to the event planners daughter about her immigration process... she really is clueless about all of it. I don't know how she could be, she just filed AOS but she really does think she's on a three year waiting list for citizenship. She has NO idea about ROC or anything. She believes she's on a list to wait. I was trying to tell her about my ROC process, you know to shoot the ####### with someone who perhaps understands and she said: "Oh ya it's a pain, we're on the waiting list right now for citizenship... we just got his green card though."

Waiting list for citizenship... like as if they're waiting for a kidney or something.

Then she made some comment about "Arabs coming in a blowing us up and we can't get citizenship fast enough" and that's when I walked away... very very slowly...

It would be both entertaining and confusing. You should see the way everyone treats her, like my boss will yell at her and put her down to her face and she just stands there. They're just strange and just really clueless. Her daughter (the one who just got married) refers to everyone as 'dear' and 'honey'... I just think that's strange... plus she's like 20... I aint yo honey! :P

And to top things off, the events planner herself is now looking at condos in my neighborhood.

She keeps calling me her new neighbor...

I am not going to list the many things that have made me want to scream out in frustration this year.

I am not going to list the many things that have made me want to cry.

My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer today.

My heart aches.

*bighuggggggggs* :(

I am in somewhat the same boat, my friends really thought I was making a mistake moving here, and although they tried to be somewhat supportive, I knew that it was never genuine. It was hard for them because not too many of them really had a chance to meet Si and get to know him.

Many of Yvonne's friends know me (that's how we met -- I knew them first), but she still seemed to be in a similar boat in the last few months before she moved - they would always ask us why she was moving here to NY instead of me moving to Toronto. Even now that she's moved, she thinks they're probably expecting that she'll keep coming to visit every 2-4 weeks like I used to when we were separated for immigration, which isn't going to happen.* It may only be a 3.5-hour drive, but still... no. Home is here now.

*Yvo's saying this as much as I am -- typed out, it almost looks like an edict on my part, which isn't the case. :P

GENIUS. Even better, call her by first name -- as if to passive-aggressively call her out, "I know exactly who you are."

so yesterday I get this lovely medical bill for $350 for an ER visit I had a few months ago and I was like what is going on here so I called the health insurance company just now..

it turns out the doctor that was in the ER that night is out of network and they are billing me for the claims the health insurance denied and the insurance company can't do anything because the doc is out of network... :S

how the heck was I supposed to know he was out-of-network when the hospital I was in was in-Network

yesterday I sent the billing company this email..

I just received a bill for $352 for ER services at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital on March 11th, 2010. I called the insurance company and they said that they denied some of the claims because some of the claims overlapped other claims. So I am wondering why I got this bill.

this was the response I just got...

Our office has received the attached email concerning your account inquiry. Thank you for your reply. A contractual adjustment has been applied towards the account. The account is now closed and reflecting a zero balance. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

whoo hoo

I guess they realized they made a mistake or something...

I'm so very jealous of your 3.5 hr drive. I'd definitely make that drive once a month to visit friends/family if I could. Just sayin'. Especially if many of your friends are mutual there. My husband and I have many mutual friends back in Canada, and we'd love to be able to visit frequently, but I'll be shocked if we're able to go more often than even once a year (if that). Yes, home is in the U.S. now, but I can't blame her friends/family for expecting somewhat regular visits when you're so close!

I'm with you Ashen. I'm usually back every 4 - 6 weeks but I'd love a 3.5 hour drive rather than 7-8.

I'll wave at you Pauley as I pass by Rochester. :)

Good for you - not wanting to be too cynical - I think they realized you discovered they were making a mistake . . . thus they cancelled the overpayment. I had the same thing happen when I had a biopsy done last year - the doctor's office told me my share was xxx after the insurance. When the insurance came in the amount was covered 100% - and the amount they wanted me to pay was the difference between their contracted agreed price with the insurer and their normal price. When they sent me a bill for the difference, I sent it back to them including the insurance statement. End of story - never heard anything from them again. I think they were trying to get away with something and realized they were caught. It makes me wonder how many times people don't check their bills and insurance statements and end up paying too much. I keep finding lots of errors on both - and interestingly enough, never once has the 'error' been in my favour.

I was mentioning to my hubby that most people probably would have just paid the bill but I knew there was something wrong with it..

yeah could be that I caught them in the act... I am just surprised that a simple email fixed the problem...

I have had that happen before like you said about them charging the difference.. what a pain in the butt this health insurance ####### is :wascko:
