KimBear,

Your injury does sound exactly like carpal tunnel syndrome, and all of the painting you have been doing is exacerbating it. It is basically caused by a lot of repetitive movement. One thing you can do to help is to go to the pharmacy and get a carpal tunnel brace. It will have flat metal panels on the palm and the back of the hand that will hold your hand in a certain position that will release the stress on the nerves involved. They are getting pinched which is causing the feelings of numbness and tingling and electric type shockiness. I get it as well and often wear the brace for several weeks until it resolves. You can wear it at night and I find it definitely stops that 'hand asleep' feeling that wakes you up in the middle of the night. You can expect to pay around $15 or more for it - make sure it is for carpel tunnel and try to get one that is specific for the hand involved (right or left) and is in the correct size. Having the correct fit is important.

Good luck.

So went to the doc's this am. Yep i have Carpal Tunnel. she had me do this test where you put your hands toghether wrist to wrist with fingers pointing down nad in a few seconds i had the numbness and tingling. I have that brace on you described. with 3 metal spoons in it. OMG how the heck do you do anything with this on? i can barely type..i can';t reach half my keys. lol. she also did a full checkup with blood tests as well since well..i';ve been here 2 years with out seeing a doctor yet. luckily i like this one and the office and people in it. AND she spcifically said hubby has to do the paintingt and help out..i'm not aloweed to do it any more. she also gave me some corticosteroid type pills to help. so we'll seee how this is in a week cuz just using a knife at denny's this am ( we had to fast for the tests) made my wrist spasm. :(

so I haven't talked to my mom or dad since probably January. I gave up calling them because they were always busy.. Well, yesterday was my Birthday and my mom called but I missed the call and she called again today but my phone was turned off. I called her back when I saw that she had called and we were having a nice conversation but after about 15 minutes or so she says she has to go and help my dad :S.. I was disappointed because there was more I wanted to talk to her about :(

AWWW Happy belated birthday Marilyn! I know how you feel. Hell the day I got my approval at teh consulate i went and saw my family. My sister understood i wasnt goign to be back for a long time, but my mother well, it was as if she didn't care or ddi'nt take it seriously. We saw her for 15 minsutes only cuz she had a hair appointment and wanted us to drive her around! we were like..you realize i;m leaving Canada eh? I wont be back prolly for a year or so? she just did not get it.

I gave them my phone number, email, addy facebook etc. She never called, never said congrats on the wedding no bday wishes no xmas card nothing. I was kind of disapointed as we always had a strained realtionship and she showed favoritism to my sister the first born. I havent talked to her in 2 years :(The last time i tried to call her she brushed me off after 10 minutes...it was the last time i tried to talk to her :(

well, my mom and I have have a decent relationship but she sometimes is a little self-involved. Like when I lost my babies, all she seemed to want to talk about was how the loss affected her and didn't seem to care how I was doing

or she is always talking about one of my brothers, Donny and how hard life has been on him and he could have made something of himself etc...

I love my mom, dearly but she drives me bonkers sometimes.. :bonk:

So I recently noticed i have been getting a ton of hives, esp. in the spring during allergy season and I'm pretty sure it's because I have a histamine intolerance with good and then the histamine in the air around this time makes it worse.

I get hives when I eat a lot of foods with histamine and it comes and goes. Avocados, spinach and tomatoes and basically anything with preservatives (esp. things like lunch meat or pop) really make me itch. Histamine also grows on leftover foods, and I get itchy when I eat leftovers too. Mine comes and goes depending on how much i consumer, so I've never really been able to pinpoint it, but i'm almost positive it is because i'm histamine intolerant. I stopped eating many of the foods on the top 10 list and was perfectly fine.

A lot of the food is just really hard to avoid!!

Thanks I never thought of a histamine intolerance, I don't remember if my allergist said anything about it, but I know he said to avoid left overs among many other things. I had a real bad allergy year so far to the point where I know have developed nasal polyps not fun at all.

The interesting thing about a histamine intolerance is that its not really an allergy, so it won't come up in an allergy test. It's basically like being lactose intolerant and the only way to really know is by eating too much of something and then removing it from your diet and seeing if your symptoms go away. I've noticed that I'm the most itchy and get large hives when I eat a large amount of histamine rich foods in a short period of time and esp. when I drink alcohol, wine or beer mostly, at the same time. I have cut out daily coffee and soda and that alone has helped tremendously and at least allowed me most food without getting too itchy. I have also started to notice what foods give me hives vs. just getting itchy. I'm okay with leftovers, but spinach is always hives.

Other common things that people with histamine intolerances suffer from are bug bites (i always get eaten alive no matter what even when others are not) and less commonly a heart arythmia, which I have (and was discovered in my immigration medical funny enough!). I think the main side effects though are itching, hives, headaches and stomach aches on occasion.

Hives are the worst! When I was 12-13 I had a serious issue with hives. I would seem to break out at random times, and could never quite pinpoint what was causing it. I took some allergy tests and everything came back normal. After about a year it stopped and I haven't had an issue since. I still have no idea what it was from.

I'm bumping this thread off because I feel the overwhelming need to vent. This week was ridiculously hard. I don't know if any of you saw what was happening on the news, but I live in Colorado Springs. Its been a challenge going week for everyone. It was crazy watching those flames jump the ridge and head toward the city. I saw it unfold, and I can't believe it happened. Your heart just sinks. We live on the east part of town, so we were safe, thank god. But so many people weren't as lucky.

I'm an insurance agent, and I can't even count how many people I talked to who were displaced. At first, we got a lot of "I think my house burned down" calls. On Thursday they released the information and wow... We had people coming into the office crying because they received the bad news. What do you say?! I'm emotionally spent! And at 7 months pregnant that's hard to accomplish...

Colorado firefighters are my heros! Such amazing efforts. Without them, this would have been way worse.

It must be awful. My heart goes out to the people who have so little time deciding what to bring with them.

grr, I am really annoyed and ticked with my parents right now. I found out on Facebook that they are planning on going to Manitoba for my uncle's wedding in a few weeks. Now that is fine if they hadn't gone to Manitoba last summer for a cousin's wedding. I haven't seen them since September 2011 when we drove up to visit them for about 2 weeks. this makes me feel like chopped liver.. :(
