rant for the day: baby boy was kicked out of day care yesterday for having "zomg spots all over his face, particularly around his nose"

took him to his dr today and she said it's from him rubbing his nose as he has a cold. the spots are not contagious, which is what the day care was concerned about. the dr signs off on the paper that the spots around his nose are not contagious, back to day care we go.

oh no....the dr was supposed to stamp it (apparently a new change the day care forgot to tell the parents about!), the day care won't let him back in without the stamp. so i have to have the dr's office fax something similar in wording with the stamp on it to the day care. nevermind that the note i had contained an original signature....and that no one told me it needed to be stamped when i was given the paper the day before when baby boy was kicked outta day care.

Dammit, la canadienne needs to make some boots which will fit us girls with muscular calves. Some of us actually have shape to our legs, dammit!!:ranting:

Also, a pox on clients who put up with a disappointing massage and then complain to the front desk afterward, rather than saying something to the therapist while in session. I am /not/ a mindreader, tyvm! :girlwerewolf2xn:

UGGGGG I hate heartburn

I took 1 150 mg ranitidine tablet (I think it is the generic for zantac) a day, and it worked wonderfully for me. I bought the walmart equate brand and it was about $4 a box. My heartburn was usually the worst right at bedtime, so I would take one mid afternoon (they are good for 12hrs) and that would cover me. Occassionally I needed the 2nd one, but often one a day was enough.

I remember with my son eating tums like they were tic tacs, my heartburn was really bad . The tums seemed to help after a few hours but I was in pain for quite some time, I should have asked my doctor for something.

A surprisingly good natural remedy for Heartburn is Apple Cider vinegar -a few tbsp in a mug of water as often as need. Totally ok for mums to be. You can add a little honey if that makes it more bareable. Google it and you'll see there's a lot of tips about it. Sounds odd to supplement with something that seems acidic but it does work well. No harmful side effects eitehr

The Tums Ultra worked well for the first two trimester, but when the third hit they no longer worked that well, and I was taking the maximum dosage. It was a lot easier to take one tablet a day and not worry about it

So we went to H&R block tonight to get our taxes done, thinking that someone would be knowledgable in canada/us taxes. All the people working in the office tonight had NO clue what forms to fill in for my canadian income. So now I am not sure if I want them to do my taxes in case they mess them up...UGH!

Back when I first moved here we went to H&R Block--they set me up with their Cdn/USA tax specialist---and he was clueless! I thanked him for his time and left. There is a whole thread here on taxes and check out

http://forums.serbinski.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=2510646b417bd48991cf435f95bf0aa7

My last yr that I filled out cdn taxes I used an online Cdn tax program, was very easy, can't recall the name of it though, but i don't think their are that many programs and I'm sure they all do a very good job. I could e-file--had to print it off and mail it in back in 2005

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I have my accountant/financial planner in Canada that will do my Canadian taxes. He has several clients that are Canadian/US residents so I know he knows what he is doing.

It is just my US taxes and claiming my foreign income.

I have posted a question on serbinski's forums since I just need to know what forms need to be filled out to claim my canadian income on my US taxes. At least I will know what to do next year!!!

I would think a program Like Turbotax could easily handle that

So I got home from work yesterday and flicked my computer on. I went to go start dinner while it was booting up. Upon returning to my computer, I see that it's not booting up properly. So I run the BIOS and subsequent diagnostics to see what is wrong with it. The problem with it is that my computer is a pain in the ####. 8 cores and 8 gpu cores to check means it's going to take 10-12 hours to run the diagnostics. The time involved wasn't the big issue for me, but the loud fan was. For some reason, it runs essentially a stress test on the fan and does the entire diagnostic at full bore. Earplugs simply were not enough to be able to sleep. So I closed my bedroom door and went out to sleep on the couch. I could still hear that stupid fan chugging away.
