Alright, if you're religious and strongly believe that those who are not should be burnt in hell, don't read what follows...

What is it with people writing as their status things like 'praise the lord for the approval', 'the lord is my savior' and other bullsh*it like that??? I'm Catholic, and I believe in God, but I also am smart enough to realize that God has NOTHING TO DO WITH IMMIGRATION!!! :girlwerewolf2xn:

I feel like screaming to those people, it makes me so mad!!! I still can't belive that nowadays people think God actually has a say on what goes on down here... Spiritual guide, sure; immigration Big Brother, she/he is not!

Thanks clueless people for ruining this brilliant morning... I'm sure God is not happy with that either... Who knows, maybe he'll go down to VSC and crash their computer so people can wait another 53 days before getting their approval! :bonk:

I too am catholic, and a strict secularist. It used to irritate me the threads and status updates where people would praise jesus for them passing. I went so far as to post in their threads and ask them things like "Dont' you think that your own due diligence had more to do with your passing than say god?", and the one that got me in trouble was "So if you had been denied, would you have cursed god for it and moved to buddhism?" There's no use in getting upset or irritated with people like that. Seriously, there are people who believe that adam and eve rode around on dinosaurs...... Yeah, that was a complete mindfvck when I saw that there are museums dedicated to trying to integrate dinosaurs into biblical lore.

ETA: If you look at the profile of the people who post these status updates, you'll see a commonality amongst them.

Exactly!!! Being mean is probably the most non-religious thing one can do ever... I totally support church groups that give back to the needy, we need more of those...

Have you guys ever heard of the farting preacher? It was this preacher who ended in jail when they realized he was taking money from people (duh)... Check it out on Youtube, it's the funniest thing in the world!

Hahaha! Never even thought of that before, but it's pretty obvious now!

ugh, so were out shopping earlier.. driving around in my hubby's car.. he will usually send me into the store ahead of him while he has a smoke ( he doesn't smoke in the car when I am in the car though).. usually he smokes outside the car when it is parked but it was pouring rain today so he stayed in the car to smoke... so the whole car reeks of smoke.. and even now a few hours later I still feel like I have a lung full of smoke..

so we got a couple of movie ticket things for Christmas and I wanted to use them today to go see Narnia in 3D.. I just called to make sure I could use them for that movie and the guy said yes but that it would be an extra 5 bucks a ticket :o I was aware that I would probably have to pay a bit more to see a 3D movie but I didn't think it would be 5 bucks... a regular priced evening showing of a movie is $11 and the 3D is $14.50.. so that is only a difference of $3.50... and we were going to see a matinee showing which for 3D only costs $12.50..

I would see it in regular 2D but the theater we have to use the tickets at has it only available in 3D..

Last year in Atlanta an 8 year old boy was killed when some idiot shot a gun into the air on New Year's Eve at midnight. The bullet went up into the air - and came down plummeting through a church roof where it struck and killed the child sitting quietly beside his mother.

Well, those same idiots are apparently here in our neighbourhood! At midnight one idiot within a block or so behind our house fired off some sort of an automatic weapon followed by another idiot who fired off a .22 (my retired army husband identified each of the 4 different firearms used as they were firing), followed by a rifle and then a semi-automatic weapon!

Geeze, people, not only is it illegal, it is also stupendously STUPID! I find myself hoping that each of those bullets fired into the air finds its way back home to the person who thought it was such a fun idea to use a weapon like some sort of toy noise maker to mark the New Year. Anyone so stupid as to do something this idiotic is giving obvious proof that they are too stupid to own a firearm. I am still shaking almost an hour later - and as a historic re-enactor I am used to being in the vicinity of active gunfire and artillery - just not with live ammo being shot off almost in our back yard!

Earlier this evening Atlanta police arrested a 20 year old who was firing off his handgun near one of the highways to 'celebrate'. I'm waiting to hear how many injuries and fatalities will be reported tomorrow because of this type of totally irresponsible stupidity!

my rant: people who let their dog or cat run loose because we're in "the county" and there are no leash laws. nevermind that fido or fluffy is on a road with a 50 mph speed limit. :ranting:

I hate that too, I almost hit a dog today although I was going pretty slow as I was leaving the complex damn guy had both his beagle and lab off leash both the dogs were standing in the middle of the damn road. Why they were randomly standing in the road while their owner was across the street ? who knows .Although we do have a field where we let our dogs off the leash! :)

Some of you will remember my BIL who's taken a long long time to grow up. He finally got accepted and moved to Hawaii to attend the UofH this past fall and took, of all subjects, Chinese..

Well he basically aced his first semester and did really well. He wrote on his FB that he "killed Chinese" and can do anything now... yep killed a whole first semester. He basically learned how to say a few sentences.

So he is dropping out to pursue his dream: music. Double:

So he is going back for a week, getting all of his stuff and coming back and hoping to attend music school in the fall. Now he's tried and failed to get into music school before - even though he had private lessons and all. He plays the drums but he isn't that great. I don't know what he's going to do. He's 26... life is only going to get harder.

So you figure his parents would grow tired of this and perhaps stop footing the bill and stop enabling him.. but no. It's just this continuous circle of #######. He doesn't want to work hard to get anywhere, he wants things handed to him, and he is going nowhere fast.

I want to wish him the best, but in reality both my husband and I know he won't get into music school, and all of this is going to be a huge mistake.

I really think my in-laws either have blinders on or just don't get it. My husband and I knew all of this was going to happen.

If my son took that many years of his adult life to 'find himself', I think I'd have to cut the purse strings at some point. At least make him finish the year in Hawaii.

Donne moi une poptart!
