I guess the problem in this case was that the doctor in the ER was out of network... that doesn't seem right to me.. if a hospital says they accept a certain insurance shouldn't everyone working in that hospital take that insurance too??

BLAH

Here's my vent. I had a job interview 2 weeks ago, during which they told me about another position they're hiring for. Then they called me to come in the next day to also interview for yet another position. So there were 3 positions available. They seemed interested, and I wrote 3 separate thank you notes to the 3 different people that I met with. They even followed up with me last week to tell me they were conducting final interviews and I'd hear back soon. After some discussion and thoughts I decided to withdraw my interest in one of the positions. It'd be only part time anyways, with 3 weeks straight working 6 days a week EVERY evening from about 6:30-11pm, and EVERY weekend from about 1pm-11pm. Then after those 3 weeks I'd have a month of NO HOURS at all. Then repeat this cycle, with NO HOURS during summertime either. Still, even with the month of October, no less than 4 things I already had scheduled would conflict with the nights/weekends work of that month. Plus, I'm too old to work those ####### hours again. I've done it before, and no more. It's not like this is something that would've led to a valuable career for me.

Long story short, I sent them a nice email to explain that I respectfully withdraw my interest in that position and would like to remain in consideration for the other 2. Well, they've already filled the other 2 now, and were sorry to hear that I decided not to pursue the other one (which makes me feel like they'd have considered me for it). Either way. I'm irritated. The interviews weren't all that great anyway (they didn't conduct them well at all), but that's another story.

So yeah... I've started to think of other ways to make money, and considered being an Avon Lady. Of course, since I just moved all my potential client base of family and friends is in Canada. In order to sell to them out of the country, I'd have to have the order shipped to me, then send it to them. Which is VERY expensive, and slow... so I can't even do that. LAME.

Marilyn, I fully agree if the hospital accepts your insurance they should make sure the doctors that see you are in network also, or foot the bill. It is after all their own doing.

Sorry Ashen, I hate how they word things a way so it sounds like you are missing out on a position when you really never know if they would of even offered it to you.

A Tristan update . . . after a weekend of juggling around cats and spare rooms and Tristan not being very co-operative ('But I WANT to go into the Living Room!), along with a negative reaction to the antibiotic, things are doing much better today. He has a new antibiotic. I let him out with the rest off the cats for the afternoon and no one has hissed at him and while he is still on the painkillers I am tapering them off and he is doing great! He is bright, alert, active and eating dried food - with no top teeth - but he is managing somehow. He is even preferring the dried food over to the nice premium soft food I got for him. So, now it is waiting for the biopsies to come back. The vet said to expect it to take at least 2 weeks. So thanks everyone for all of your good wishes, hugs and cuddles for Tristan. :)

YAY Tristan!!

OH Marilyn, my husband David said the hospital is not allowed to do that to you. and you should just toss the bills back at them. he went into a rant and i did not quite understand it LOL, but he definately said they were not allowed to bill you for a doctor that was out of network if the hospital itself is in network. not sure how that all works in the usa still but thats what hubby tried to explain to me lol.

Ashen that sucks! Honestly doesn't sound like the company for you, especially fi they can't do a proper interview etc. Hope you find something you like soon!

So my brother-in-law, who is 25 just moved to Hawaii to go to University. He's sort of a late bloomer - sort of messed up a few times on the college front, but always had his parents there to bail him out. He did two years of community college and then moved to Hawaii to finish up in University. His parents are paying for everything including his apartment, his education, all he has to do is study, and not give up. So I'm talking to my MIL about him, and we tell her how he's posting lots of beautiful pictures on facebook. So she asks him if she joins facebook can she be his friend so she can see his pictures. He says yes, because before when she was on FB, he didn't want to be her friend. But this time he says: "Yes I'll be your friend" So she joins and she comments on one picture saying simply: "Nice view!"

Well he calls her up and tells her not to comment on any of his pictures because his friends may see her there and feel like they have to refrain from commenting at all. So basically "Look at my pictures, don't comment, I don't want my friends knowing you're on facebook AND that we're friends"

I know this is the attitude of many TEENAGERS. But my brother in law is almost 26... those years are over... there's no need to be ashamed of your mother, who is not even saying anything more than: "Wow you have a beautiful view" Like nice thanks to her for paying your way your entire life! I'd be like: "Screw you kiddo, pay your own rent!"

I couldn't help but feel terrible for her when she told me this on saturday and it was really sad the way she told it. She even let all of his friends come over to her house pretty much every weekend over the summer for pool parties. Bought them all a keg for his going away party. Like why even accept her friend request then? I just find that attitude really immature, surprising and pathetic. Minus 10 cool points for him. I didn't think he was like that is all.

Like those friends aren't going to last a lifetime, but your family will.

Wow, he's 25, mommy is paying for his tuition, apartment and living expenses, but he doesn't want his friends to know that his family is on his FB friendlist. Sounds like a 25 year old stuck in a 17 year old world.

Sounds like he has to do some growing up, however he is getting everything paid for, might be time to cut the cords (atleast some). I wish my parents would do anything close to this like say a "down payment for our first house". I do not use facebook as I think it causes problems but when I did have it my whole family was on it. "shame on him" haha

Definitely stuck in a teenagers body. I just found it really sad. Like who the hell cares if your friends see it? Your friends are nothing compared to your family.

If sh!t hit the fan, his friends wouldn't be the ones to hop on a plane and fly over and help him out, his parents would. I just wouldn't put up with that sort of treatment.

It's all in his head - his friends don't give a ####### - they probably think it's cute. Mind you - I won't add my MIL - my husband added her and all she does is leave long personal messages on his wall - she hasn't quite gotten the hang of FB yet....plus, I don;t need her knowing every ounce of my business - she's a nosey lady

It's not so much that he thinks they care, he feels that if she posts they will feel like they can't be themselves and post what they want to... which is talk about pot, beer, and parties while using tons of swear words.

Both my MIL and my mother are on my facebook. My MIL isn't so bad on it, she sort of looks at it often and then will bring up topics in conversation when we see her next, if it's of interest, but she doesn't write long messages or anything. She barely talks to people on it, she uses it more to keep up with people.... like her 25 year old son living in Hawaii.

It just surprised both my husband and I that he acted this way and told her not to post at all. He really needs to grow up and get his priorities straight.

Speaking of family on fb, I remember asking my uncle not to post on my wall anymore, because all he'd do is post immature toilet humour or just straight up negativity. That's a lot different though from what my MIL was doing.

So I'm sure many people can sympathize with this...the economy sucks.

I have applied to every job down here I can think of that I am qualified for (except fast food places...yet) and so far, nothing but rejection emails if I'm lucky. I have years of customer service work, I'm good at what I do, and yet I can't even get a damn interview. I just got another rejection letter and I literally burst into tears. It feels like I'm never going to get a job, and I only have enough money for payments on my car till like next March...after that we are going to be screwed if I cant find something. Guess its time to start looking at McD's to see if any of them are hiring..not that I have much confidence that I'd even get an interview there.
