! Danu! That was great!

California is the worst for bad drivers. I've only been there once, but the roads were a nightmare. How do you get anywhere in So Cal?! There are too many people and too many cars.

Pft, road rules in california:

Blinkers are optional, middle fingers are the ideal way to say you wanted to merge in.

Never look before you merge, they have to get our of your way, you don't have to make sure that they can.

Constant swirving into lanes that arent your own makes sure that other drivers on the road are awake so do this at every chance.

Green means stop, yellow means slow down, red means speed up and go through anyway, beeping at any of the ******'s who DARE try to turn on their green light.

Likewise, stopsigns are a suggestion.

Speeds - Never go the speed limit. You must always go either 10+ above or below the speedlimit but never the actual speed limit. If you are the only one of 2 people on the highway, driving at 45 is suggested, preferrably in front of the other person.

Sadly these road rules work the same for the GTA =/

Sounds a lot like Jersey too.

Still the worst place I ever driven is Boston... and I was the passenger... I was in TEARS. It was awful.

Donne moi une poptart!

My vent - people who somehow misread things into being personal attacks and then attack the people who were trying to help them. Sometimes I think theres way too many crazy people out there.

I second this statement!

I think it is a US thing. Here in TN I find a lot of the same things. People never use their turn signal when changing lanes, just swerve in and out of lanes, never check blind spots and the "slower traffic keep right" concept has never been heard of!!

I remember when I first came to SB I couldn't stand some of the drivers, but now I think I've gotten used to it, and it's not so bad here. London had pretty bad drivers actually. I developed severe road rage in London. Here, not so much. So that's a good sign I think. haha

Don't tell anyone that I told you this, but that is just our rules for foreigners. :P

Really? I think southern ontario is the worst. Everyone there drives too slow, confuses the word "yield" for "stop", and there are far too many that are so overly cautious it's almost dangerous at times. It's all a matter of perspective ;)

My biggest vent is the Chihuahua drivers in El Paso. They drive like bats out of hell and constantly put the rest of us on edge. Another thing too is that they are not required to have insurance in Mexico so a lot of these people don't. Basically, if they hit you and it's their fault, your insurance still has to pay for them just because they don't have insurance. :s But lately I've been seeing a lot less of them, probably because our border patrol has gone a bit crazy.

haha... for a second I thought you were going to talk about the people who insist on driving w/ a dog in their lap, cause I know that's one of my pet peeves... ugh.

My vent today is one I've shared before. I am going to get my medical done... AGAIN... today... Hopefully they know what they're doing. I don't like that these things are all sent in sealed envelopes. I've lost my trust in people in this process knowing what they're doing. Anyways, I'm bringing the I-693 which I printed off myself (there's a new edition dated 7/20/10), and my RFE paper, and my receipt from my medical in T.O. (which I plan to send in, for no other reason except to be like 'YEAH, I DID get the medical done already, you jerks!'), and a copy of my vaccination records, and the results of my x-ray (not the x-ray itself, just the paper saying there's nothing wrong)... so, hopefully they don't need anything else. good f'ing times.

I also have to do several loads of laundry AND an over full amount of dishes (we have no dishwasher), so that'll be fun to look forward to this afternoon. :(

No, you really are right with that.

I just came from Southern Ontario, and every day on the roads I wanted to kill everyone, to echo ashen, I was road raging so bad I was stressed all the time because the drivers there are so awful, half of them I cant understand how they passed a drivers test, then another chunk are the indian immigrant drivers whose husbands passed the test, then handed the license to their wives misunderstanding that it covers the rest of the family too

I detested even driving across town it was so bad.

Here in the Central coast, its a joy in comparison,

They JUST called after I posted that last msg, to reschedule my exam. The Dr's out sick today. How convenient. They just returned from 2 weeks vacation which I've already been waiting for.

So now I have to go in on Monday instead, but at least should be able to get the paperwork the same day, according to the lady I talked to (when I expressed my anxiety about my upcoming deadline).

JEBUS CHRISTOS WHY DOES THIS PROCESS HATE ME. :bonk:

Ashenflowers,

Whenever you do get to go to your medical, make sure they give you an exact copy of the sealed package - but the copy is to be unsealed.

You are entitled to receive a copy of your completed I-693 as far as I know. It makes sense; having a copy you can look at is an easy way to spot mistakes and help relieve worry about "what's inside the mystery envelope?!?!"

It sounds like you've covered all your bases in deciding what to bring to the medical; you should be able to drive home the fact that you are under RFE time constraints just in case someone decides to play dumb or insist that they can't speed up processing.

I sympathize with you; the process I am going through hates me as well. It kind of feels like some sort of computer game where you end up having surprise hurdles tossed into the path.

Thanks Tick Tock, that's a good idea to ask for a copy. Probably a good thing to have whenever I can get around to looking for an actual regular doctor here too.

Since they're one of the CS offices listed on the USCIS website, I imagine they are familiar with these cases... I would hope (we're in a high-immigrant area), and the lady I spoke with on the phone seemed to understand importance of the deadline at least. It just seems so much longer because I have to wait past the weekend as well. Sigh.

On the plus side, I have more time to do laundry/dishes/other housework today... yay?
