I went outside was picking tomatoes and was trying to figure out why the cherry tomatoes all have yellow dots on em, so I came in and googled it and it seems its a spotted wilt virus. So as I'm reading up weather they are safe to eat (since the kids eat them right out of the garden). My neck and face have been burning since I came inside. Well it seems that my tomato allergy is not to just eating tomatoes, cause now I am covered in hives all over my neck face and arms every part of me that brushed up on the plants. I took some benidryl and have a cold cloth helping to take the burning out of it. :ranting:

Oh geez.. definitely stay away from the tomatoes! I've luckily never had hives but my kids have and I know how miserable they are when they had them :(

As I was walking from my car to the building I work in, I see a man and woman walking and talking together. They finish their coffee's from starbucks at about the same time and then they put them on the ground, in the parking structure, not more than 5 feet from a trash can. Usually, I don't say anything, but in this instance, I said "wow, thats effing lazy" under my breath. They heard me and took offense to my comment.

Yes, I was rude, and I do regret saying it so loud and for using "effing". But I simply have no tolerance for people that lazy that they can't walk 3 feet out of their way to throw something in a bin.

I'd have done the same thing...and have lol

Financial aid verification? I can't imagine that's too pleasant. Is it like a student loan audit or something?

I'm really annoyed with people asking really stupid questions. Normally I'm pretty patient and tolerant, as we always ask stupid things every now and then, but it seems like it's reached a new high. Today at work I kept getting phone calls from people asking me really stupid things. Like, "why did I get a bill for $140?" I don't know, maybe because you're set up on monthly bill and your payment is due August 1st? It's like they ask you to pay every month or something. What a concept. Or my personal favorite is when people call with fun "what if" scenarios. "If I rear ended someone on the highway would I have coverage to fix their vehicle?" Really? What do you think insurance is for? No you have no coverage for any property damage you cause others. You are just paying us for absolutely nothing.

Then I come on here and It's like a replay of my day! People need to discover the wonder of reading. Maybe if I read through my billing statement, or took a look at my auto policy I could see what I have coverage for. Maybe If I clicked on the tab that says "guides" or "Wiki" or "FAQ" I wouldn't need to continually post repetitive questions!

I feel better. :)

Ah, wilt diseases are tough - we've lost plants every year to some type of wilt or another - this year it got the squash plants. We did get a good harvest from them before they succumbed to the wilt, but it means that we are going to have to solarize the soil this year before we plant crops there again. I planted tomato plants this year that were specifically wilt and disease resistant and so far so good. We are getting an abundant harvest of really big and really delicious tomatoes so I will plant those same varieties again next year. We lost our apple tree this year to a fungal infection called Fire Blight which is a type of wilt. It killed the 5 year old tree in less than a week :( .

You're actually fine to eat fruit from plants with tomato spotted virus - the tomatoes may look unappetizing but there is nothing unhealthy about eating them so don't worry about that. The kids can eat them and they will be perfectly fine. Yes, tomato plants actually can cause itching even if you are not allergic to them. I often come in and have to put benedryl lotion on my arms after picking tomatoes - it is just a reaction to the plant itself. Again, it won't harm you - it is just uncomfortable. Being allergic to tomatoes must make it worse, though, so I hope you're feeling better soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

grumble..getting irritated at uscis ..again..geez. still no biometrics appointment for my aos and ead. and no one can tell me whats going on. all they can say is dont ask for updates on your aos until DECEMBER, liek ####### is that? OH and dont call us back about your bio until the end of august, i cheated and used both receipt numbers to get two different service requests. one on the 6th when i gave my change of address and again today.

i mean seriously. ####### is with the delay. i mean other than receipt notices i have no proof of anything. i mean what would i do if i was stopped? my passport i-94 expired on july 5th..any joe blow sees that they think i'm here illegally...how would i prove otherwise? i mean they arrested some poor porto rican accusing him of being here illegally and held him and interogated him for two days in chicago...

I wish the cleaning lady would just stick to cleaning in the mornings and not talk to me.

For real.

I have complained about this before, but I don't care about her son, or his girlfriend(s), or what he does... I don't care.

She's babbling on while I type this... she has no idea... she's standing there going on and on about her son, oh wait now she's going on about working and doing more than your share of work... or something like that... I'm really trying to tune her out here.

Do I look like I'm someone who cares? I don't.

I come in to work early to have my coffee and enjoy the silence.

Shut. Up. Holy. #######.

Hi Everyone,

First of all....Thanks for your replies regarding my 'home insurance vent' (lol..it's on page 5 or so of this thread...)

It was very helpful, indeed! (thanks especially to Hugglebuggles for the insider info on the insurance biz too..)

Ok....Now I guess I have no other choice but to grin and bear it when it comes to paying for homeowners insurance...

Sigh...

Ok...Now for some new vents...

1) I HATE SUMMER...

It's HOT and HUMID.....And I can't do anything about it...

We can't use an air conditioner

We can't open the windows

We do though use a fan, which helps somewhat, but not enough to make a big difference....

I can't use the computer much either....(except for early in the mornings or late at night when it is not to hot)....

So there goes VJ....grrr....

Oh added to the fact that I now have seasonal allergies (lol..or at least that's what the doctor said, after suffering through many weeks of sneezing, coughing, chest pain, and other symptoms...)

....That doesn't help either.....

Lol..An endless spring and summer...Stocking up on antihistamines....

Anyone else experience seasonal allergies and/or other allergies too? What did you do to relieve such?

2) The cows....

I live in a country/rural area....

And yes, there are farm animals and other animals around here...

Don't get me wrong, I like animals....But...

Last night 3-4 of those cows end up on our front lawn (no joke...really)....

Mooing and mooing.....in the fog.....All night long....Between 1am-4am.....

While the farmers tried to chase them back onto their property....

Lol...I guess this is where homeowners insurance comes in handy....Does it cover for 'damage caused by cows'?.....

Lol..It could be worse...I could live in the city again...That would be a nightmare far worse than cows.....

3) Foreign Embassies/Consulates.....

Still waiting for them to get back to me regarding the 'renunciation of birth country' issue...

It's been an endless game of e-mail tag (oh for about two years or so...)....

And the answers have always been vague, general, or something that I already know...

What to do next? Should I just walk into the embassy/consulate and inquire further?

I really want to get this done...Why the heck are they giving me a hard time about it?....

Blah....I'll think of more vents along the way...

Meanwhile, thanks for listening to these vents...I feel somewhat better now....:)

OBX-Lol...We had an A/C (we had to get one last year while I was pregnant in our previous house)....but this year the elderly MIL needed it more....So we gave it to her instead...

Don't think we'll be getting another one though....It would cost too much tp have it running and too many bugs/instects would find their way in their house if we ever did install it...

I agree, too many days of 90+F degrees weather...What's up with that?

Heck, I can't even stand anything over 70+F/21C degrees....

So oh yeah, I'm complaining/venting about the summer, big time! Grrr...

I wish it would snow.....I wish it would snow......Sigh.....

We have though considered window tinting though....Supposed to get an estimate this week...blah.....

As for the cow thing...Yeah that is really rare...And funny! (though not funny early in the morning)

Likewise, we have turkeys, ducks, and other wild birds in our area too (and we don't even have a feeder...imagine what a zoo it would be like if we did have a feeder!)...I don't mind the birds though....It's actually quite nice to see flying and waddling around...Actually...They come around every so often....

And yes, the old "why did the chicken/ducks/birds cross the road" joke is a literal thing around here...

Cute though, that the wild turkeys are enjoying your bird feeder...Are they giving your problems at all?

Cool too that you posted a pic of that...Thanks...They look very interested in that feeder, indeed!

Yeah, there is someone here at work who is like that. I've tried every method I could think of. First, I just wouldn't turn around from my computer to face her, feigning work on some project or another. She would stand there, undeterred and talk for 10 miuntes. I tried the iPod method, but she would stand there and just talk louder. Even closing the door doesn't work. Generally, that is a faux pas here because of confidential work product issues. Some people just don't get it, and I don't think this lady will, short of grabbing her by the back of her ears and say to her "I don't like you, I don't want to talk to you, and I don't want to hear about your life. Eff off". I don't do that only because it would be a mark on my personnel file and would probably get transferred.
