we have submitted all documents for AOS and have had biometrics quite some time ago but it still shows my wifes status on the uscis website as "under initial review". there is another woman from belarus in chicago, quite close to us with an identical timeline thus far and she has already recieved her greencard. how long does it typically take?

now for my question, my wife will soon be traveling back to belarus to help her mom do some things for a month or so. if we get notice of a date for an interview for the GC during that period can it be rescheduled?

Unless your wife applied for an got AP she needs to stay in the US or you will start over applying for a CR1 visa. If she has AP then it could be rescheduled but it normally isn't advised.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
