My fiance is 54. Born in 1957. Has no vaccine records or records of having contracting things such as chicken pox. I simply and too baffled by what shots they will look over and which ones he needs proof of having. If he has to have the varicella vaccine we can get it now while he is still here visiting. (both doses) I know that the UK doesn't have this one. I have seen all these other vaccines and have tried to figure out what ones he has to actually have evidenced until I now I think the ABC's is a vaccine.

Please can some one give me a simple but complete answer? The simpler the better at this point. Should we go ahead and get the Varicella before he leaves the states so that he would have at least that record available?

Has he had chicken pox in the past? If he has, an oral confirmation of this at the medical will suffice for varicella history ("VH" as annotated on the form).

Edit to add: he will also need Tdap and MMR (if he'd been born a year earlier in 1956 he wouldn't have needed that). Those over 50 need the flu vaccine during influenza season but it's not flu season currently. Best to call Knightsbridge and ask if it's necessary nearer the time.

Okay.....now am reading contradicting information. The varicella vaccine isn't available in the UK but Knight bridge is charging 60 gbp for it. So if they are giving it .....would my SO have to go back to Knights bridge to get the second dose.

Then if they test for the anti bodies at the medical in knights bridge then how in the world would he get a copy of his vaccine records that the medical at knights bridge would have if they were to seal em and send em to the embassy?

The thing most people do is just get the Tdap and MMR on the NHS, usually for free or at a low cost, before the medical and bring proof of vaccination to the medical. It's possible to get titre tests for existing immunity, but they cost more than jabs (usually).

You don't need any evidence for chicken pox. They'll ask him if he's had it, and he can tell them yes, and that's the last he'll ever hear of it.
