Recurring Dates in Calendar

There are some recurring events in the calendar list, which seem to be a mistake. I have seen this a few times, pretty often. Is there a way to fix it or do the members themselves have to go in and change the dates? It's been Lai's birthday for awhile, and Michael's birthday for awhile too. Looks like they may recur every day for a few years if not fixed.

In the calendar...

you know how the bottom of the forums page has upcoming events listed? There is where they are shown and when you click on them, it says they are recurring until 2010 or 2011 depending on which one you click. They have been on the upcoming events list daily even after the event has passed.
