We filed on the 29th, so I guess we just made the cutoff for this group. God, the waiting is intolerable.

I just keep hitting refresh. : (

I would give anything to speed things up. I want to be there by xmas. ::fingers crossed::

Best of luck on your journey!

It will test your patience for sure! Be prepared for a bit of wait because unfortunately Montreal is still seriously backlogged for interviews. The wait is currently anywhere from 2-4 months post NVC completion. :bonk: Visit the Canada forum for support from those who will be going through the wait with you. Those of us that have completed the process will be cheering you on from the other side.

Good luck!

I hate to agree with OBX but don't set your sights on Christmas. Montreal is one of the slowest consulates out there at the moment. Although they have reduced their wait time for interviews from 6 months to 2 - 4.

This quest is about patience but don't set unrealistic expectations. You're really looking at 8 - 12 months from start to finish

Good luck

Hey guys and gals. I filed on June 1st. In the same boat as everybody here.

Anyway, just wanted to see what everybody has been doing to keep their minds off of going crazy with the wait? For me, I've been working a lot. Told my boss to schedule me as many days possible and he's been giving me six days a week and one of my lazy coworkers usually sends me a text on my day off because they aren't feeling "well" or have to take "somebody to the airport". So, it's been an average of 45 to fifty hours a week of work for me since weekends are half days. I deliver groceries for Safeway so i'm driving most of the time and the day usually pass by quickly. My wife and I talk just about every night or she goes to the internet cafe near her house when I'm done with everything for the day. The worst days are when I'm off and don't have plans to do anything. Also with football season about to roll around and the ####### talk with my friends already starting, it will help keep my mind off it.

I've also prepared as much as I can as far as getting ready for NVC. Got most of my paperwork ready. Just waiting on the IRS to send my tax transcripts and I think I'll be alright with what I need.

My question is. What are you doing to pass the time?

Sam,

Sam,

Hi Sam,

I don't work anything over my usual hours (no overtime in my job), but my children and doing things around the house tend to keep me busy, especially since they are getting ready to go back to school. Other than that, I think I am on this computer most hours surfing VJ, playing games on facebook , and watching movies. Somehow I think no matter what I did to keep busy, I still would be watching that darned calendar :bonk::angry:

Yes, I realize I am posting this two months late. I filed late June and I believe my priority date is June 24th, and my last touch was June 30th. Still hoping and praying that we'll get my wife's visa by Christmas, but I honestly don't know what a realistic goal is. At least I'm going to see her in 4 weeks I haven't seen her since just after we got married in June :(

Its good to see other people in the same month filing the I130. My priority date is June 24 and as the days go by I just hope and pray that a letter or email will show up with confirmation of the NOA2. This is a long process and I am eager for it to be over with. Just waiting for my approval (hopefully before the end of the year).

Your Timeline says that your NOA1 date is July 24th, not June 24th....if that's a typo, you should correct it.

Just wanted to join the group....I sent out our package June 4, and have NOA1 date of June 11.....I always check my timeline, and it's discouraging....it went from possible approval date of oct. 4, to nov 4-14....I know this is just a guide, but UGH!!! Thankfully the time seems to be passing by quickly...I hope the same for all!

Hi everyone,

I sent out my package May 26 or so and have a NOA1 of June 2. I consider myself a June filer the wait doesn't really count until the NOA1 date. We are so tired of waiting and haven't seen each other since April. It have been almost 14 weeks since I submitted the I-130 and hope to get an approval in the next 6 weeks. It would be nice if my wife could be with me for Christmas but I plan on mid January to mid February. I have almost run out of things to do that keep my mind off the wait. I have done about every home improvement project that I could do. We want to see each other but money is tight right now. I have almost worn out the USCIS and VJ sites. How accurate is the VJ time line prediction? It seems to change everyday.

I am preparing my I-864 and maybe somebody can give me some guidance. I am using my assets and not income for my affidavit of support. In 2001, I signed an affidavit of support for someone and can not find them now. I am sure the person is still in the USA and working. It has been almost 10 years and I am wondering if this person has become a citizen yet. I don't know, If I should count them on my I-864 or not. Any ideas?

Also I read on VJ that if I use assets that I will need 5 times the poverty guideline amount. I read in the I-864 instructions that if I am a citizen that I only need 3 times the poverty guideline amount (part 7, number 29 of the step by step instructions). Which is it?

Depending on the size of my household and whether I multiply by 3 or 5 times the poverty guidelines can make a big difference in the amount of assets I need to show. Anywhere from $54,639 to $114,440.

Thanks in advance fro any help.

Jim
