A significant reduction in I130 approval

Ya, there was a 'push' last year, at VSC, for K-1's - brought the 'in/out' duration at VSC down to ONE MONTH. Gary n Alla has some interview q/a with one of the directors at VSC, covering this activity. Also, from studying the timelines here at VJ, was another 'push' at CSC last summer (to end of September) for quick I-130 turnaround - done in a month. Sheesh - can you imagine ? ONE MONTH on an I-130 at CSC - Yay ! But that's gone now, seemed a magic window, to me.

Basically, if there is 'some' backlog, then 'staff' are re-routed from one visa type to another, for a period of time, to clear up the backlog.

IMO, Starting in May 2010 , things have slowed down on I-130 and I-129F because of the H1-B visas, and this emergency 'status' stuff for Haitian refuges.

I do suggest a thorough read of the 'Visa Monthly Bulletin' from DOS - there are nuggets in there, help out with any data mining you might wish to accomplish, helps with formulation of any 'counting algorithms' you might want to deploy on yer data set.

Given that the misperception on Indigo's part has been identified and resolved.. the name of this topic is so misleading and can cause noobs to possibly freak out for no real reason... there is no documented increase or decrease in approvals at this point...

Well, hopefully, these "newbs" will read the thread fully and understand that it's nothing to worry about. Heck, "I"'m not worrying and I'm the freaking queen of Freak Out Country.

Here is some more information for data crammers.

Remember this too, the USCIS does not issue visas, they only process petitions. The DoS is the visa issuer.

Petitions are approved at a higher and faster rate than visas.

I don't have the time to divulge in months of statistical analysis (as much as I would love to!!!!!!!!! - I really do) but it would seem apparent on the surface that as consulate become more backlogged that it would also have an affect on the petition process. I have nothing to back that up other than what seems to be sensible to me. If I was already buried under a ton of bricks, I would tend to request that the brick supplier back off a bit and allow me time to "dig out".

My initial datasets are only regarding USCIS. It's not NVC or Consulate related. USCIS process more stuff taking longer time. NVC process fewer stuff in shorter times. Consulates/Embassies process even fewer stuff in even lesser time. USCIS accepts any and all form. NVC only accepts application approved by USCIS. Consulates/Embassies accept application forwarded by NVC.

Since you say MAR-10's counts aren't six months old, then everything younger than six months should be excluded. Right? In that case, you end up with data that ends in SEP-10 showing a huge-#### drop in completed cases. And shouldn't it be five months; or in truth 3 months? Six months ago, the graph shows a dip. Five months ago, a dip. Three months ago, a dip. So the conclusion is fewer and fewer cases are being approved now a days. But the number of new cases is constant or increasing.

Aren't the February filers waiting longer than January filers (in general)? This only re-affirms the above graphs, trends, counts, etc.

PS: Completed, I believe, means either accepted or denied.

I am a January 2010 filer and believe me, it's been more than 6 months that I have waited for the result and til now I'm going into 7 months of waiting, still haven't beard anything from the USCIS. It is very FRUSTRATING to know that the I-130 petitions are taking really SLOW just to get a response from them (NOA2 that is). Overall, I believe that USCIS really SLOWED in processing I-130's for this year as I am a good example here. Let's just hope that USCIS can prove what they have posted in their website about the current processing time and not contradict themselves with it.

i read over the weekend in one of the filipino newspaper that between last month and this month, USCIS had a big jump in getting the backlog done. in most family visas, the timeline advanced between 6-12 months.

I feel that my prediction no longer holds true. USCIS has again reduced the goal of average time it takes to process I130 from 6 months to 5 months. Which is going to reflect on a bit more cases being processed.

Just a correction on my previous post above. What I meant to say was that the priority dates being processed for most family visas advanced 6-12 months.
