Sorry if some of these are dumb questions... we just got married and now in this post K-1 phase we are plowing through all the paperwork before us, which seems to be even more than for the K-1. There seems to be a lot more to absorb and process here.

1. What is an "A#"? An alien number? Where do we find this?

2. What is the visa number? There are a lot of numbers on her K-1 and we aren't sure which one to use.

3. What is a "class of admission"?

4. Advance parole travel dates - do we have to fill in a specific date? We don't have any specific plans to travel, but we want to have that option in the future. We'd like to keep that space blank so that we can travel when the issue comes up, not plan it out months in advance.

5. The advance parole also asks for an explanation or evidence that warrants issuing a travel document. What do people write here? What if the reason is "I'd just like to visit family a friends"? Is that enough or is it only fire dire circumstances? The thing is that she's from Quebec, Canada and I'm from Vermont and so up till this point we've been moving back and forth for whatever reason between Montreal and Burlington without any fuss, now it makes it sound as if her mom has be be dying for her to be able to cross the border.

6. Affidavit of Support - I already submitted this before. Can I just give them photocopies of the bank and employer statements used for the K-1? Or do I have to go back and make appointments again with these two places and have to explain I need them to do this all over again for me?

Thanks for any help!

Not to worry... but I can't answer them all... perhaps the bump will engage others...

1. What is an "A#"? An alien number? Where do we find this?

Find this on your I-797 NOA2... it's above the beneficiary's name

2. What is the visa number? There are a lot of numbers on her K-1 and we aren't sure which one to use.

Others have answered this question but I don't remember the answer.. .Others???

3. What is a "class of admission"?

I assume it's "K1 Visa holder"… others confirm??

4. Advance parole travel dates - do we have to fill in a specific date? We don't have any specific plans to travel, but we want to have that option in the future. We'd like to keep that space blank so that we can travel when the issue comes up, not plan it out months in advance.

Not sure… others?

This is a new and more complicated form... the I-864. Info supplied should be current, within approx one month has been suggested.

Hope this helps a little - Jen

JenT gave you some wonderful help! But I suggest that you go through the AOS Guide on VJ. They answer all those questions and more! Then there are also example forms that are very helpful. There are links to these located at the top of the VJ page. I'm sure you'll still have some questions after that so always feel free to ask. But the guides and example forms help alot so you don't feel so bogged down by it all. Good Luck!

If you look carefully at the directions on the Affidavit of Support, you can supply W-2s and tax records for the past 3 years. I supplied that as well as proof of employment and my wages. You do not need to once again provide evidence of money in your bank account, provided you meet the monetary requirements.

4. Advance parole travel dates - do we have to fill in a specific date? We don't have any specific plans to travel, but we want to have that option in the future. We'd like to keep that space blank so that we can travel when the issue comes up, not plan it out months in advance.

We filed for AP and didn't put specific dates. We stated that my husband's grandfather was not in good health and he would want to be there if anything happens.

6. Affidavit of Support - I already submitted this before. Can I just give them photocopies of the bank and employer statements used for the K-1? Or do I have to go back and make appointments again with these two places and have to explain I need them to do this all over again for me?

The USCIS doesn't require the past three years of tax returns anymore. Only the most current one. You submitted the I-134 for the K-1 petition. This is for the AOS application. You need current copies of employment as well. I sent a letter from my employer and from the bank showing my husband and I have a joint account. Unfortunately yes...you have to submit them again.

Best of luck :)

Hey there! I know you already got some answers but let me see what I can do.... :D

1. Like Jen said it is on the NOA1 but it is also on the K1 visa and it sayd A# right next to it.It's kinda at the bottom

2.The visa number is the only set of numbers in red on the visa itself. My husband's is a set of eight numbers.

3.K1 is the class of admission

4&5. I can't answer( we didn't apply)

6.You don't need a bank statement for the I-864 and I would get a new employer statement just to be safe! Make sure you give them a copy of your tax return form for 2005. Some people have been receiving RFE's for not doing this.

Hope this helped! Good Luck!
