I have a general question...

We had our biometrics on the 5th of August and got the assigned receipt number back in July...I have been unsuccessful in looking up our case on the website which doesn't recognize our number...when I called the USCIS they told me that all is ok on their side but will inform their technology staff of the problem...still nothing is working...any ideas....

In your portfolio its has dates next to each case number. They fall under the category updated or last updated one of those. if this date changes than it has been touched. what do those dates say now??? Are they recent or when you filed??

The USCIS Case status/ Online Update is never accurate and almost useless,

We have already received our interview notice (8/4) and our last Update was July 3.

It took 10 days after the receipt of our NOA's for our cases to even show up or be recognized by the system

So one can only immagine that the Anxiety of waiting is only increased by the lack of sufficiency of the USCIS Case status page.

My advise is to wait until your receive NOA in mail, You should receive an ASC ( Biometrics) notice within 2 -4 weeks from receipt of your initial NOA's, Don't stress too much, visit this forum and

others like it ( immigrationportal.com) where other have shared your anguish and will releive you with their accounts of their experience.

The Online status is about as functional as the Walk button on a cross walk, people keep pushing but nothing happens, it serves to distract them from the Anxiety of waiting.

Give it another few weeks after numerous attemts to see the status or LUD of your case, countless sleepless nights , anxious eager stares at your postman, and you will start to look like the attached picture. :clock:

Ella,

I can't see all 3 of my petitions online either. We had our biometrics yesterday and still nothing. I can't do a case by case lookup, I can't add them to my portfolio. Any time we try to do anything it's the same error "Status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system......"

You are not alone.... I assume your case # starts with MSC-06-2XX-5Digits? There is logic to the numbers by the way. MSC = national chicago and/or Missouri service center. 06 = year. My apps are 292, that's the 292nd day of fiscal year 2006 (fiscal years run Oct1 to Oct1 for USCIS.) The last 5 numbers are the petition number for that day. Each petition they entered each day goes up by 1 digit. I'm starting to wonder if anyone with MSC works, because MSC use to be Missouri Service Center, For some reason or another MSC changed it's name to National Benefits Center or NBC. We sent our petitions to Chicago, so how on earth we ended up with an MSC number is beyond me.

(banging head against keyboard)

I'd just like to see my petition online....

It won't work directly, but try adding 2 or 3 to it and typing it in online. It appears that they give out the numbers sequentially, so the first 3 are for your checks, then the next 3 are your reciept numbers. This worked for me.

I'm not completely sure I know what you mean...

The last numbers on my two checks are 0 on one and then 1 on the other. So you mean type out the 9 numbers before that and then put a 2 on the end of the 0 check and a 3 on the end of the 1 check?

I mean, if the number on the back of your check is "MSC0622562345", try entering "MSC0622562346" or "MSC0622562347" or "MSC0622562348" or "MSC0622562349" into the USCIS website and see if you get a hit.

BTW - I made those numbers up.

You're not alone! Our receipt numbers don't work either (our NOA's are dated the 8/4/06).... I also tried putting other numbers in at the end, decreasing the number naively thinking anyone's case would come up on the system...

and the only thing you get when you do that is locked out of the site due to abnormal sustained activity!!

:D

oh well patience is a virtue....
