hello,

I'd like 2 know if there is any chance 4 me getting my F1 status reinstatement after visa has been expired for 7 years. I came 2 U.S when i was 12 years old on a student visa with my father. We have stayed in U.S since. I attended public school. Now I'm attending college & planning on going back 2 home country as soon as i get the degree. I haven't worked here. I'm currently an illegal immigrant, & my sole reason 4 wanting reinstatement is to stop being one, disregarding any associated benefits. My father's mother & his brother r both us citizens. Is there any way i could get the F1 status reinstated or anything that will render me 'legal'? I tried joining American military but it requires legal residence. I consider sending a letter 2 immigration officer pleading my cause. Would it help?

thank you,

The answer to your question is "NO", unfortunately you can not reinstate your F-1 visa, you are out of status. Right now, if you leave the country you will trigger a 10 years ban. Letters to immigration officers will not solve your case either, that might cause a lot of trouble.

I can see 2 options for you: first-your parents might be able to AOS for you if you are under 21 ans second- you can marry a US citizen. For the 2nd option I am talking about a legit marriage.
