You can actually drink too much water to the point of it being dangerous. The eight glasses a day thing is unnecessary, as long as you drink other fluids.

Tina Christopherson, 29 of Florida who had an IQ of 189, became obsessed with the idea that she suffered from stomach cancer, a disease which had killed her mother.

In an attempt to cleanse her body, she went on periodic water fasts, during which she ate no food but drank up to four gallons of water a day. By February 1977, she had consumed so much water that her kidneys were overwhelmed and the excess fluid drained into her lungs.

She died of internal drowning, otherwise knows as "water intoxication".

I thought water intoxication was when it messes up your electrolytes and flushes them all away... and yes, it's very dangerous.

(looks it up in google - yep. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication )

And to answer the actual poll... I drink a lot of water, and I pee every hour on the hour except when I'm asleep :P I use a big glass and drink at least 4-5 glasses a day, but that's usually the only thing I have to drink all day. I hate coffee and fizzy drinks and avoid caffeine, and while I like fruit juice, more than one glass of that a day is too much sugar...

3 nalgenes' worth at work, 20 oz in the morning, and 40 oz of carbonated water (H2Oh! a minnesota brand) in the evening. Plus a glass of crystal light when I get home from work. It's from back in my vocal training days... always drinking water. Unfortunately, this sheer force of habit also causes me to down alcholic beverages quickly. :(

They say peeing more than once every 2 hours is a sign of diabetes; I think it's a sign of enjoying a lot of delicious water. Yummmm

I ticked 3-5 glasses but I just went and measured how big my glasses are and discovered I'm WAY off! We've got three different types of plastic glass which we use interchangeably - the 'small' blue one holds 17 oz of water, the coloured ones hold 20, and the clear plastic 'fishy' glasses hold a whopping 22 ounces each! No wonder a bottle of orange juice disappears so quickly around here...

(I drink at least 4-6 of these glasses of water each day - whenever I empty my glass I go and fill it up again) I'm drinking the best part of a gallon a day! That explain the bathroom thing too... I used to worry that I might be getting diabetes or have something wrong with me, but it's a simple in-out equation :P

Somedays I drink about 3 litres other days, especially when I am at home funny enough, only about 6 glasses. When I am in work I have no trouble drinking loads, must be because everytime I want the loo it gets me out of the office

Is your office building air-conditioned/temperature controlled and more or less sealed from the outside world? If so, the air is probably very dry in there and it dries you out so you need more water to compensate... of course there's also the 'distraction/diversion' thing too :P

I'm going to start carrying my nalgiene bottle around again! I miss having water with me all the time! :crying: Then that will give me an answer to why I pee 8 times a day, instead of now where I pee 8 times a day and I barely drink any liquid except mhen I take my vitamin in the morning.
