Hello all! I'm sorry if this query has been raised before, but I'm a bit new to Visa Journey. I just received the NOA1 for my husband's I-130 petition. The NOA1 has a return address from the California Service Center, but I thought our application should have been processed at the Nebraska Service Center (I reside in Missouri).

Any idea why our application was sent to California? Is this a mistake that may delay processing and, if so, should I contact USCIS?

Many thanks for any advice you can provide! :)

Not a mistake.... Nebraska has not processed these petitions for many, many years

YMMV

I am from farther east than you and mine was processed in Cali too. Take a look at other timelines and you will see that that is the case with others.

All starts with Chicago lockbox - then usually is sent to either Vermont or California, based on where petitioner resides.

There are exceptions - if yer homed to Vermont (for example) and Vermont is lagged, the lockbox will get instructions from Vermont to send ALL to California for a bit.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I found it strange as well, we are going through the California Visa Center and my husband lives in Connecicut. I had thought for sure we would be in the Vermont office.

Just hopefully we are all approved soon !!

This should be making you wonder what other I-130 instructions you failed to carefully study. Do it now, so you can be prepared. Also study the guides and the wiki for the NVC shortcuts or you'll wish you had. (In addition to feeling silly for not having done so.)
