Hi I am new here! I want to know are any of you going to Pakistan in December? I want to go with anyone who may be going there. I am not really up to travel alone and was advised to look on this site. Also, any tips on what to do after marriage? Should I do the Green Card or the K3 visa? Please let me know thanks!

Love means the heart's attachment and the will power's inclination toward the beloved. It also means the feelings' being purified of anything or anyone else other than the beloved and all the senses and faculties of lover being turned to and set on the beloved only. Every act of the lover reflects the beloved: his or her heart always beats with yearning for the beloved; his or her tongues always murmurs the beloved's name, and his or her eyes open and close with the beloved's image.~M. K3 is dead, you will be filing for the CR-1 spousal visa. It takes about 6-8 months from initial filing to visa interview, but many Pakistani applicants get put in AP (Administrative Processing) after the interview. Read the guides on this site (link above) for info on what to prepare.

Penguin wasn't saying that K-3 is nonexistant, only that it is redundant--since you have to file the I-130 for it anyway, you might as well go "all-or-none" and file for CR-1.

(since the design behind K-3 is itself shambolic, Penguin has a good point--exactly why when alternatives finally became available****, I opted to do K-1 for Pras)

Ok, ok then. I am opting out of the K3 and doing CR1 because I will just move to him if it takes too long. Thanks for advice.

Penguin I think your statement that "many Pakistani applicants get put in AP after interview" is a little off base. I think that most male Pakistani beneficiaries get put into AP not women.

See the post just prior to yours--beneficiary is Tariq (last-I-checked, male name) who is in Pakistan.

Hi, I am in same situation.. But I am thinking why not I apply K1 for my wife? we are going to have nikkah because her family wont allow to have meetings or phone talk before marriage (traditions...)... Any suggestion?

You say your wife... are you legally married? If so, you cannot file a K1. Otherwise, K1 is certainly an option, but then she would need to come over here to the USA by herself and spend a day or two at least (as long as it takes to make wedding arrangements) with you without being married. If her parents are very strict, then that is not an op[tion and you would be better off getting married in Pakistan and then filing for a CR-1.

yes she will be wife as per Pakistan law. Anyways, I am leaning towards K3 or CR1.

Does anyone know what is the time line for CR1 or K3 for Pakistan? If someone going thru process now (recent) can give timings here..

Appreciate all your help...

If you go to the Pakistan portal you can see timelines and I think the whole process takes almost a year total. My sister's took 6 months to get approved and then her husband got 6 months of AP.
