I've always known the evening meal as tea and never called it anything else until I came here. I guess I have picked up too many American things though, my parents always called napkins "serviettes" I was thrown off for a few seconds when my Dad asked for a serviette when I made tea for them over their Christmas holiday here. For a few seconds I was all "servi-what?" Ever since, I have corrected hubby (In my head) whenever he asks for a napkin.

We went to Walt Disney World last week for a belated honeymoon, we had lunch in Epcot and went to the Rose and Crown pub there, all the wait staff are Brits, flown over for 3-12 months, For shame I was told that I still sounded British but they could tell I lived here now, especially when the waitress that was serving us heard that I'm from Essex (although nope I don't have the Essex accent.. I would have been spanked if I talked like the chav typical Essex yobs), I need a visit home to refresh my accent or import my family for a few weeks. Seeing yobbo chav-like families in Florida was not the same. I almost went over and corrected some nitwit family that didn't know why some versions of the English flag had a dragon on them... I held my tongue and loudly told Hubby all about the numb-nuts that didn't even know the name of the English flag, all within ear shot of the family. They followed a little way behind us to one of the rides muttering away about having no pride for being British, made me sick, I was happy that I could run around with my St.Georges Cross flag last month and celebrate being English (on St Georges day) without being told by namby pamby nonses that it wasn't politically correct

Oh, and on the supper thing? I grew up in Saskatchewan - it is breakfast, dinner, and supper there. Caused me no ends of problems when I moved to Ontario and would agree to meet someone for dinner, because in most of Canada, it is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Finally decided it must be a farmer thing - the big meal would typically be largest at noon, so they called it dinner. Dunno.

A month later she thought it's whiskers looked untidy (hairdresser thing). She trimmed it's whiskers and it kept falling over. Back to the vets. He said "what happened to it's whiskers". She said she had trimmed em. He told her cats need their whiskers to balance.

It got it's revenge by peeing in her expensive pot plant

That's all I know about Hastings really except she used to buy fish and chips - she ate the chips and then took the batter off the fish and gave the fish to the cat
