Bank Loans, some other questions and immigration

Hello, new to the boards.

My American wife and I were recently (Feb 3rd) married over here in the UK. She has returned to the States and we've completed and submitted the I-130, now waiting for it to be processed by USCIS and transferred to NVC (which should be in the next couple of weeks by the forum updates we're reading).

I've been reading this http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut and found it very useful. I've just got to get my photos signed off to send off for a police cert. and then we'll have all the info ready for the next stages.

Questions:

1. How many copies of Birth Certificates should I apply to the Registrar for? I have 1 certified copy of an entry so far and if I am asking for more of them, don't want to keep doing it.

Similar with wedding cert, how many copies from the Registrar?

2. How long should I leave it before going for a medical? Is it worth me going to my GP first and getting up to date immunisations done?

3. Bank Loans, I have a loan with the Bank (Lloyds) that I am paying back over months, does anyone have experience with this? Will the bank allow me to continue payment from overseas?

4. I have a computer I want to bring over with me, my wife and I skype and therefore I'd like to leave bringing it to the latest I can, what's the best way to send it? Mail it? Also a large box full of books, same question.

Many thanks to anyone who can offer assistance/advice.

1. I think I got 6 when I started the process, not very much and you never know when you need them.

2. Yes

3. They really do not care! As long as you continue paying.

$. I use a laptop, moving stuff is expensive especially books. So consider how much you really need them.

One copy would be enough, as you will use photocopies to mail anywhere or leave at the interview for your file (after they have looked at the original.)

2. How long should I leave it before going for a medical? Is it worth me going to my GP first and getting up to date immunisations done?

Yes, especially if you can get immunizations free on NHS. Some will and some won't. The medical people will want your LNDxxxxxxxxx file number which NVC will assign. Once you find out that number, make an appointment.

Maybe leave money in a UK account and have the payments drawn from that?

If you're handy with a computer you can do what my husband did--take all the bits out, wrap carefully and pack in your carry-on bag. Put the keyboard/mouse in checked luggage. When we got to Houston, we went to Fry Electronics straight from the airport and bought a case with a US power supply($50??). By the next day his computer was up and running exactly as it had been before. I did have an old monitor for him to use.

Great, thanks for the help so far. I'll contact the bank then to discuss the repayments, I'm currently repaying via direct debit straight from my account.

I won't have a bank account on arriving so I guess that's important to get set up asap. Hopefully it's easy?
