The A# is written directly above the beneficiary's name in smaller letters on the NOA2.

If it's not there, I wouldn't worry too much, a couple of people had theirs missing as well.

Yeah it does not appear above my beneficiary's name on the NOA2.

I will look for this on the CR1 visa itself later in the process.

oops my bad. thought you were past the interview part. hmm have you gotten any of your packets yet? maybe it's written down there as well, or perhaps a call to dos or nvc? thats all i can think of at the moment. usually they assign you a number right after filing.

I only have one packet which is the bill from the NVC for the AOS and IV fee bills. There is no 8-digit number on those packets.

It is more of a curiosity to see the number than any real need to see it. There is nothing I can do with that number in my current position. Since I'm still waiting for a lot of steps I'm pretty ok with looking for it on other documents in the future.

Even if it's not on your NOA2 or your visa (and I don't remember if L's is on his visa or not), it should be on your I94 -- or at least, CBP wrote it on L's.

My A# wasn't handwritten on my passport. Doesn't matter. It is printed on your visa as the REGISTRATION #.

For the record, I'm looking at L's K1 visa right now, and it does NOT have his A# on it. This may be a difference between the CR1 that you have, sachinky, and the K1 we have. There is no "registration #" area -- there's a 14 digit control number (which doesn't contain his A#), his visa number, and at the bottom under his name is a stream of digits (none of which are his A#).

But, his I94 has his A# written on the back. <- and perhaps I was unclear in my previous statement, as the "it" I was referring to with the handwritten A# was the I94, not the visa.

This is just my understanding, but A# are apparently only assigned to immigrants. Technically, the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa and therefore, it would make sense that they would not print the A# on it and instead assign you one at POE on the I-94.

L's A# was given to us with the NOA2 for our I129F, so they aren't (always) being assigned after the visa's issued.

his visa also had his A# written very clearly in the passport.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but do you have to go to the SSN office for the SSN? My Wife's POE was few days ago and was wondering if the SSN comes in mail. I am reading mixed things about it. Thanks in advance

Wait for 3 weeks. If it doesn't turn up in the mail by then, go directly to SS office and apply in person.

Yeh, after weeks of waiting to hear from the SSA we went to the local office on Friday. No record of her at all so now we can wait another "7 to god only knows how many working days" for it to show up. At least they were really friendly and the line wasn't too long. Speaking of which, I was shocked at HOW friendly they were there! Has congress passed a bill that requires them to have therapy and take meds?? That was NOT the same SS I've known and loved all my life. Anyone else have this problem?? I was ready for a fight, then.. NICENESS!!
