The K3 is basically no longer an option. So, I would go with the CR1. There have been several posts in VJ about the closing of the K3 visa. So, I would say to go for the CR1 instead.

You are married and live in the US (if you reside in Ethiopia you have other options), while your spouse lives in Ethiopia, right? If so, follow these steps and ask any questions, if you have any.

http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

The I 129f would be if you were petitioning your fiancee, or K1 visa. You could do the K3 visa with the 129f, but the general concensus is that it is entirely worthless-it won't save time and will cost more money. So no, do not fill out an I 129f, if you are married.

Hello Meskal To answer your question directly, It depends what you want to accomplish. It will not cost you anything if you filing 129f, some of my friend's experience told me that both petition approval time is the same, and of the same time NVC accept only 130 So, if you still like to send it yes you have time you can send it. But, to speed up your process I don't think it'll make any difference. I only summit 130. Speaking to Consulat office in Addis Ababa they pre much very efficient handling of petitioning so you're not going to have any problem at the US embassy in Ethiopia. I suggest you should just continue with your 130.

Good luck on your USCIS, NVC and Consulat JOURNEY!!!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer!

Yes I was considering wheather to file also for K3 as married/not fiance, which one can do, but if it really does not save any time vs IR/CR visa then I really do not see the point? (and as far as I understand also, it won' t cost me any more since it would be based on the I 130, only just more papers to be filed. Any other opinions?

Just keep your finger across to hear the good news from USCIS that your petition would be approve sooner. As far as the opinions you ask for I really don't understand what you like to know. By the way ... save your e-mail your phone call any financial statement, prepare your spouse gathering documents prepare yourself. So, all you can do is just wait for good news from USCIS

While sending in the I 129F may not cost anything, the AOS of the k3 visa is more expensive. Plus, with a Cr1 visa, the spouse would be able to work almost immediately upon entering the United States. All in all, it is almost never worth the time and effort to fill out a I 129F.

I totally agree with you Indy90 it is not worth it for Meskal to fill out 129f, thats why I recommend or perhaps I suggest to Meskal to continue with his/her 130...
