My eldest son is diabetic and had a hypo in our small village once....as he lay unconscious on the pavement ppl just stepped over him....the woman who called the ambulance saw this going on as she went over to help him. The medics who came said they hear of it all the time these days...ppl don't want to get 'involved'....

A few months ago Wadi and I helped a woman in our building after what seemed to have been a domestic dispute. She was yelling (loudly) and bleeding on the ground in the middle of our building's courtyard. We were the only ones to help her and call the police. And can you believe our neighbors had the nerve to complain at one point that they could hear our television so we should turn it down. Oh, but they couldn't hear the abused woman yelling for help????

An incident in Runcorn I read in the papers ages ago -

An attack occured in a pub's toilets, a man went in to help and he got stabbed by the "victim"

It is difficult to know when to step in sometimes, this can be an abusive place at the best of times. Nobody helps staff out when customers severely kick off at the tills for fear of reprisels, often get some consellation afterwards though so it's nice that they still care.

Oh yeah late one night a few months ago there was a couple screaming at each other on the estate in the middle of the night. We found out in the morning that he had been arrested but nobody came out to offer assistance, sorry to say not even I. Funny enough, I don't fancy a brick through my window!

Reminds me of "The Hand", a god-awful Michael Caine movie - in which he plays a cartoonist who suffers an accident that severs his writing hand. The disembodied appendage crawls off on its merry way, pausing to commit a few gruesome murders - which gets Michael Caine into a bit of hot water as his fingerprints are found on the scene.

Not only was it a terrible, terrible movie - but it was written and directed Oliver Stone, who has done the upcoming WTC movie.
