Good Morning mena. Anyone win the lottery jackpot last night? Piper has a cold & a 100.1 temp. Poor baby.

I'm going to a shoe & purse party tonight. I brought a change of clothes for later because it isn't a day unless Piper spits up on me.

I hope that Piper is feeling better soon!! Poor bean Sayed hasn't gotten sick yet but I'm just waiting and thought it would have happened by now because of my 7 year old bringing all of his germs home from school. He had one small cold a few weeks after he was born but I was never sure if it was a true cold or just newborn congestion and blocked nasal passageways.

Have fun at your shoes and purses party. I wish I was a normal girl that got excited about shoes, purses, and clothes. I hate shopping unless it's for books or movies.

I'm the type of shopper that usually knows what I want and goes to a store to get just that and then get out. My Mom thinks I don't like shopping but that's not true. I just don't like shopping like she likes shopping where you go to all 5 Hallmark stores in various cities in one day to check on what pieces they have in their dish collection and what prices they have them marked down too. It's exhausting for me.

The shoes and purse party is to bring your favorite pairs of shoes and favorite purse and tell the story behind them such as where you got them, why you picked them as your favorite, and where they've taken you in life. Just a fun gathering for women to meet, get to know each other and have dinner together. The lady putting it on is always having fun original parties like this. I really enjoy going to their beautiful house and spending time around her. She's such a great hostess and so lovely and kind. She has been one of my inspirations.

This is Piper's first cold and her Dad has it too. They went to visit family in Jackson Hole and they have three kids so they picked up the cold from there. When her Mom got back she said to watch the baby for a cold since she hasn't had one yet but that it's good if she gets one because it builds her immune system up. I watch Piper at their home M-F and sometimes weekends if they want a date night or have something to do. Other than her Mom taking her on errands with her on occasion Piper doesn't get out much or exposure to others. Her Mom has two "new Mommy" friends in the neighborhood that they have play dates with sometimes. These babies are just a month or two older than Piper. The "new Mommies" wanted me to watch their babies a few times a week while watching Piper but I got anxiety about it. I've worked in child care for several years in the infant unit, toddler unit, kindergarten, and after school care. I had a big family and being the oldest girl I took care of all my little brothers and sisters growing up like a second Mommy to them. The children are precious but their creators can be demanding in ways where parents and administrators clash and I got put in the middle. I got shell shock and stopped watching and taking care of children in my later 20's and this is the first time in a long time I've agreed to take care of a baby. She's family though and just one baby and enough for me.

I really enjoy getting to spend time with Piper now and watching her grow and develop week to week. I check on the web at Baby Center .com for where she should be in her development and practice the songs and exercises with her. Last two weeks she's been rolling from front to back and back to front. This week she's able to do mini push ups and has discovered her reflection in the fire place glass panels, in her swing and on her mat. She just looks and looks for a long time. She's also able to recognize her parents now and a few people she prefers. She only talks to my Brother though. We don't know why but he can get her to talk to him. I think it's really cute. I haven't seen her laugh yet but she has laughed once before from what I'm told. I know from taking care of babies that they each come with their own little personality and it makes me wonder if she's a more serious thinker baby. She also does the scootching on her belly putting her knees under her but she only gets an inch or two before she tires out.
