Hello everyone,

I have a questions:

On DS 230 question #32 List below all employment for the last 10 years. From 2006 to present, I don’t have a permanent job anymore. I am a warehouseman before, but from 2006 to present, the only job that I have is a part time job. I am a Driver. This is a daily basis salary and if there is an on-call job then that is only a time for me to work. What am I suppose to write on question #32? Is It UNEMPLOYED? Because I don’t have a permanent job right now. Or I will write FREELANCE because I'm not working in a company? What am I suppose to write aside from FREELANCE? I don’t want to become a "public charge" or might be denied during the interview. Am I might be denied during visa interview if I don’t have a job?

Please help and thank you

If you don't have a job or assets you'll have to have a co-sponsor. The whole point of the DS-230 is to prove that the beneficiary WON'T become a liability. If the petitioner doesn't have a sufficient income or a co-sponsor that does, then you won't be approved. You have to be able to support the person you're petitioning for.

Sorry, I thought the whole point of the I-864 was to prove that the beneficiary wouldn't become a liability. Not the DS-230.

Data put into the DS-230 is used for background checks, not 'public charge' issues.

I'd put 'Freelance Driver'

or

'Contract Driver'

or

'Owner of Truck for Freelance Delivery Services'

Good Luck !

Duh..LOL It's been a long day, sorry..LOL I'm a driver as well and that's all I put. Just make sure that you use the same job title on all the forms. Don't change it and put Truck Driver in one place then Driver somewhere else. Good luck treb

Thank you for the replies.

Follow up question, during the interview at U.S. Embassy Manila; are they still needed to see my Income Tax Return? My mother is the sponsor (petitioner) and I am the immigrant (beneficiary) I'm not paying my tax because according to our Internal Revenue when I asked them, I am a tax exempted and no need to file, because I don't have a permanent job since 2006 to present. If I will put Driver, since I am not working at the company anymore but only a part time job are they might want more info about it and might be worth getting a RFE? I’m afraid I might be denied in the interview, if I don’t have a permanent job at present. For those who are still willing to share their advices, I am very grateful to accept it.

beneficiary has no need to show any tax returns.

Petitioner must, as part of the I-864 packet.
